General precautions and concomitant medicines
Inform your doctorBefore starting Mondeslor, patients should inform their healthcare provider about all prescription medicines, over‑the‑counter products, herbal supplements, and vitamins they are taking to minimize the risk of interactions.
Mondeslor Tablet 10'S is a combination medicine used to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, etc.
Mondeslor Tablet 10'S is a combination of two medicines: Montelukast and Levocetirizine. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of chemical messengers called leukotrienes in the body, thereby reducing inflammation in the airways and providing relief from the symptoms. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine which works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger called histamine, which is responsible for allergic symptoms.
Common side effects of Mondeslor Tablet 10'S include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, and sleepiness.
Mondeslor Tablet 10'S can be taken with or without food. However, it is better to take it at the same time every day.
It is not recommended to drink alcohol while taking Mondeslor Tablet 10'S as it can increase the risk of drowsiness and other side effects.
If you miss a dose of Mondeslor Tablet 10'S, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
Mondeslor Tablet 10'S should be used in children only under the supervision of a doctor. The dosage and duration will be determined by the doctor.
Yes, Mondeslor Tablet 10'S can cause drowsiness. Therefore, avoid driving or operating machinery that requires mental focus.
Store Mondeslor Tablet 10'S at room temperature, away from heat and light. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
No, Mondeslor Tablet 10'S is not a steroid. It is a combination of two medicines, Montelukast and Levocetirizine, which help to relieve allergy symptoms.
Both Monteair LC and Mondeslor Tablet 10'S contain Montelukast and Levocetirizine, but they are manufactured under different brand names.
Mondeslor Tablet 10'S should be taken for a long time only under the advice of a doctor. Prolonged use may lead to some side effects.
The safety of Mondeslor Tablet 10'S during pregnancy has not been established. Therefore, it should be used only when considered essential by the doctor.
Alternatives to Mondeslor Tablet 10'S may include Levocetirizine, Montelukast individually or other antihistamines. Consult your doctor.
Mondeslor Tablet 10'S can cause drowsiness or dizziness in some people. If you experience these symptoms, it may be unsafe to drive.
Mondeslor is primarily used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, nasal itching, and itchy or watery eyes. It is also used to treat chronic idiopathic urticaria (chronic hives of unknown cause), helping to reduce itching and the number and size of wheals. In some formulations that include montelukast, Mondeslor may also be used as part of the management of allergy‑related asthma symptoms, but it is not suitable for treating sudden asthma attacks.
Mondeslor usually contains desloratadine, which is a selective second‑generation antihistamine. It works by blocking H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing the effects of histamine released during allergic reactions. This leads to a decrease in symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and runny nose. If the product also contains montelukast, it additionally blocks leukotriene receptors, which helps reduce airway inflammation and bronchoconstriction associated with allergic conditions.
Yes. Mondeslor is used for seasonal allergic rhinitis, which occurs at certain times of the year (for example, due to pollen), and for perennial allergic rhinitis, which can occur year‑round due to triggers such as dust mites, pet dander, or molds. It helps control nasal and ocular symptoms in both types of allergic rhinitis when taken as directed by a healthcare professional.
Mondeslor is indicated for chronic idiopathic urticaria, a form of long‑lasting hives without an identifiable cause. It helps reduce itching, redness, and the number and size of wheals. It may also be used for other allergic skin manifestations at the discretion of a physician. However, for acute severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis, Mondeslor is not sufficient and emergency treatment with adrenaline (epinephrine) and other measures is required.
Desloratadine, the usual active ingredient in Mondeslor, is classified as a non‑sedating or low‑sedating antihistamine. Most people do not experience significant drowsiness at recommended doses. However, individual responses vary, and some patients may still feel mild sleepiness, fatigue, or dizziness. Until you know how Mondeslor affects you, it is advisable to be cautious with activities that require alertness, such as driving or operating machinery.
Mondeslor is not a rescue medication for acute asthma attacks. In formulations that include montelukast, it may be prescribed as an add‑on therapy in patients with asthma and coexisting allergic rhinitis to help control allergy‑related triggers. It should always be used as part of a comprehensive asthma management plan, which may include inhaled corticosteroids and bronchodilators. Patients must not stop or replace their regular asthma medicines with Mondeslor without medical advice.
Onset of action for desloratadine is generally within a few hours after ingestion, with many patients noticing relief of allergy symptoms on the first day of treatment. Maximum effect may be seen after several days of regular use, especially in chronic conditions such as persistent allergic rhinitis or chronic urticaria. The exact timing can vary depending on the individual, the severity of symptoms, and the specific formulation used.
Combining Mondeslor with other antihistamines or leukotriene receptor antagonists is usually not recommended unless specifically advised by a doctor, as it may increase the risk of side effects without providing additional benefit. Mondeslor may be used alongside intranasal corticosteroid sprays, saline nasal rinses, or certain eye drops as part of a comprehensive allergy management plan. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medicines and supplements you are taking before starting Mondeslor.
Commonly reported side effects of desloratadine‑containing products such as Mondeslor include headache, dry mouth, fatigue, and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea or abdominal discomfort. In formulations containing montelukast, additional side effects may include upper respiratory tract infections, fever, or, rarely, mood or behavioral changes. Most side effects are mild and transient. If you experience severe, persistent, or unusual symptoms, you should contact your healthcare provider.
Mondeslor should generally be avoided by individuals with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to desloratadine, loratadine, montelukast, or any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution is advised in patients with significant liver or kidney impairment, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and in children, where age‑appropriate formulations and dosing are required. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions, psychiatric disorders, or other serious medical conditions should discuss risks and benefits with their doctor before using Mondeslor.
Mondeslor may be used for extended periods in conditions such as persistent allergic rhinitis or chronic idiopathic urticaria when clinically indicated and supervised by a healthcare professional. Long‑term use should be periodically reviewed to confirm ongoing need, evaluate effectiveness, and monitor for side effects. Patients should not continue Mondeslor indefinitely without medical follow‑up, especially if they have underlying liver or kidney disease or are taking multiple other medications.
