Common side effects of Niftas 100mg Tablet may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, and drowsiness. Some people may experience allergic reactions like skin rash or itching. More serious but less common side effects can involve liver problems (e.g., jaundice, dark urine), nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy causing numbness or tingling), lung issues (cough, shortness of breath), and blood disorders. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any signs of these severe reactions. Other reported side effects include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and discoloration of urine.

Lung and Nervous System
Monitor for toxicityNitrofurantoin has been associated with acute and chronic lung reactions, including cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, and, rarely, pulmonary fibrosis, especially with prolonged use.
NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S is primarily used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and helping to clear the infection.
NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S contains nitrofurantoin, which is an antibiotic. It works by interfering with essential processes within the bacteria, thereby stopping their growth and spread.
Common side effects of NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. If these side effects persist or become severe, consult a doctor.
It's important to consult a doctor before using NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S during pregnancy. It is generally not recommended in the late stages of pregnancy or during labor.
A doctor's advice should be sought before using NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S during breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk and affect the baby.
Store NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children.
It is recommended to take NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S with food. Taking it with food helps improve absorption of the medicine and reduces the likelihood of stomach upset.
If you miss a dose of NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S can interact with certain medications, such as antacids and some antibiotics. Therefore, it's important to inform your doctor about all your medications before starting NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S.
The duration of treatment with NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S depends on the severity of the infection. Typically, treatment lasts for 5-7 days, but it's important to continue treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
Some people may experience dizziness after taking NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S. If you experience dizziness, avoid driving or operating machinery.
Yes, NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S is an antibiotic. It contains nitrofurantoin, which inhibits the growth of bacteria.
Overdosing on NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S can cause serious side effects. If you think you've taken too much of the medicine, contact a doctor immediately.
Yes, NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S is effective in treating urinary tract infections (UTIs). It works by killing the bacteria and preventing their growth.
Niftoin 100MG Tablet 14'S and NIFTAS 100MG TABLET 14'S both contain nitrofurantoin as the active ingredient and are used to treat UTIs. However, they are manufactured by different companies.
Niftas 100 contains nitrofurantoin, an antibacterial agent mainly used to treat and prevent uncomplicated urinary tract infections, particularly infections of the bladder (cystitis) caused by susceptible bacteria. It is not effective for kidney infections that have spread to the bloodstream or for infections outside the urinary tract.
Nitrofurantoin in Niftas 100 is rapidly excreted into the urine, where it reaches concentrations high enough to inhibit bacterial enzymes and damage bacterial DNA. This action stops the growth and replication of susceptible bacteria in the urinary tract, helping the body clear the infection when the full prescribed course is taken.
Niftas 100 should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken by mouth with a glass of water and is often recommended with food or milk to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Do not crush or chew the tablets unless your doctor advises otherwise. Do not change the dose or duration on your own, and complete the full course even if you start feeling better.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and headache. Urine may become dark yellow or brownish, which is usually harmless. Mild dizziness or drowsiness can also occur. If these effects are severe, persistent, or bothersome, contact your doctor for advice.
Yes, although uncommon, serious side effects can occur. These include allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), lung problems (shortness of breath, cough, chest pain), liver injury (yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe fatigue), nerve damage (numbness, tingling, weakness), and blood disorders (unusual bruising, pallor, fatigue). If you notice any of these, stop the medicine and seek urgent medical care.
Use of nitrofurantoin during pregnancy should be based on a careful risk–benefit assessment by the treating physician. It is generally avoided near term (late third trimester) because of a potential risk of hemolytic anemia in the newborn, especially in babies with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. Pregnant women should not use Niftas 100 without medical supervision.
Nitrofurantoin passes into breast milk in small amounts. It is usually considered compatible with breastfeeding for healthy, full-term infants, but it may not be suitable if the baby is premature, has jaundice, or has G6PD deficiency, due to the risk of hemolysis. Breastfeeding mothers should use Niftas 100 only on medical advice, and the infant should be monitored for unusual tiredness, jaundice, or feeding difficulties.
Niftas 100 is not recommended in patients with significantly reduced kidney function because inadequate kidney clearance can lead to lower urinary concentrations (reduced effectiveness) and higher blood levels (increased risk of toxicity). People with any degree of kidney impairment should inform their doctor, who will decide whether nitrofurantoin is appropriate or if an alternative antibiotic is needed.
There is no strong evidence of a specific harmful interaction between nitrofurantoin and moderate alcohol intake. However, both alcohol and nitrofurantoin can cause nausea, dizziness, or drowsiness, and alcohol may worsen these effects or impair your ability to recognize side effects. It is generally advisable to limit or avoid alcohol while on Niftas 100 and to follow your doctor’s recommendations.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and take the next one at the regular time. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose, as this may increase the risk of side effects. Maintaining regular dosing helps ensure effective treatment of the infection.
Niftas 100 should generally not be used in people with a known allergy to nitrofurantoin or any component of the formulation, in patients with significantly reduced kidney function, in some individuals with a history of nitrofurantoin-induced lung or liver toxicity, and in certain late-pregnancy or neonatal situations. People with G6PD deficiency, severe anemia, diabetes, electrolyte imbalance, or chronic lung or liver disease require special caution and medical supervision.
Niftas 100 is mainly indicated for uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections such as cystitis caused by susceptible organisms. It is not suitable for severe systemic infections, suspected pyelonephritis with high fever or flank pain, or infections caused by bacteria resistant to nitrofurantoin. Your doctor will decide if Niftas 100 is appropriate based on your symptoms, medical history, and, when available, urine culture results.
