How NOVORAPID FLEXPEN 3 ML Works

• Insulin aspart is a rapid-acting insulin analogue that binds insulin receptors and promotes glucose uptake in muscle and fat while reducing glucose release from the liver. This lowers blood glucose. Its action can begin rapidly, so administration must be coordinated with the meal plan prescribed by the diabetes team. The effect can vary with injection site, blood flow, temperature, activity and individual response. Too much insulin relative to food or need can cause hypoglycaemia; too little can cause hyperglycaemia.

Hypoglycaemia is the most common adverse effect and can cause sweating, shakiness, hunger, confusion, headache or loss of consciousness. Injection-site reactions, lipodystrophy, swelling or allergic reactions may occur. Severe hypoglycaemia, facial swelling, breathing difficulty or a widespread allergic reaction requires urgent care.

• Before first use, store refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C and do not freeze. During use or when carried as a spare, the manufacturer leaflet allows storage below 30°C or refrigerated for up to 4 weeks; protect from light with the pen cap and do not freeze. Follow the leaflet supplied with the Indian pack, since exact local labeling may differ. Discard a pen exposed to freezing or excessive heat, or if the solution looks abnormal. Keep away from children.

• Check the pen label before every injection.
• Use a new needle for each injection and never share the pen.
• Keep a glucose monitoring and low-glucose treatment plan available.
• Coordinate injections with the prescribed meal plan.
• Do not use insulin that has frozen or been exposed to excess heat.
• Ask a pharmacist to confirm cold-chain handling during travel.

• Meals and carbohydrate intake directly affect insulin requirements and hypoglycaemia risk. Follow the meal and glucose-monitoring plan from the diabetes team. Alcohol can increase or delay low blood glucose and may make warning signs harder to recognize. Discuss alcohol use, fasting, illness and major dietary changes with the clinician. Do not skip a meal or change insulin use without the individualized instructions.
