OFLOX 100 REDIUSE ORAL SUSPENSION 60 ML is generally well-tolerated by children and doesn't usually cause serious side effects. Any side effects that do occur are likely to be temporary as the body adjusts to the medication. If these side effects continue or become bothersome, it is important to seek medical advice from your child's doctor.

Allergies
Contraindicated in known allergyOfloxacin syrup must not be given to a child with a known allergy to ofloxacin, any other fluoroquinolone antibiotic, or any component of the syrup formulation.
An extra dose of OFLOX 100 REDIUSE ORAL SUSPENSION 60 ML is unlikely to harm. However, if you think you have given too much to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). Rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis if you notice any of these symptoms.
Ineffective treatment with OFLOX 100 REDIUSE ORAL SUSPENSION 60 ML could mean that the medicine is not able to act against the infection-causing bacteria. In such a case, visit your child’s doctor who may prescribe some other antibiotic that would be more specific in action. Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from a heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there is a possibility that OFLOX 100 REDIUSE ORAL SUSPENSION 60 ML may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.

Ofloxacin syrup for kids is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections when prescribed by a pediatrician. It may be used for some urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections like certain types of infectious diarrhea, and occasionally specific respiratory or ear infections when other safer antibiotics are not suitable or have failed. It is not effective against viral infections such as colds or flu and should never be used without a doctor’s prescription.
Ofloxacin syrup is not routinely used for all children. Fluoroquinolone antibiotics, including ofloxacin, are generally reserved for special situations in pediatrics because of concerns about possible effects on growing bones, joints, and tendons. A doctor may prescribe it when the infection is serious, caused by resistant bacteria, or when other safer antibiotics cannot be used. The doctor will weigh the benefits and risks before prescribing it. Parents should not give this medicine to a child without medical supervision.
No. Ofloxacin syrup should never be given to a child without a doctor’s prescription and guidance. Using antibiotics without proper evaluation can lead to incorrect treatment, side effects, and antibiotic resistance. Symptoms like fever, cough, or diarrhea can have many causes, including viral infections that do not need antibiotics. Always consult a pediatrician before giving any antibiotic, and never use leftover medicine or share it between children.
If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you are unsure what to do, contact your child’s doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Common side effects of ofloxacin syrup in children may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, or trouble sleeping. Some children may also experience a change in taste or mild skin rash. These effects are often mild and may go away as the body adjusts to the medicine. However, if side effects are severe, persistent, or worrying, you should contact the child’s doctor for further guidance.
You should not stop ofloxacin syrup on your own unless your child’s doctor tells you to. The full prescribed course should usually be completed, even if the child seems better, to ensure the infection is fully treated and to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance. However, if your child develops serious side effects such as tendon or joint pain, severe rash, difficulty breathing, seizures, or severe persistent diarrhea, stop the medicine and seek urgent medical attention.
Fluoroquinolone antibiotics, including ofloxacin, have been associated with tendon inflammation, tendon rupture, and joint problems, although these effects are uncommon in children. Because children’s bones and joints are still developing, doctors are cautious when prescribing ofloxacin. If your child complains of pain, swelling, or difficulty moving a joint or tendon (such as the ankle, knee, or shoulder) while taking ofloxacin or shortly after finishing it, stop the medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
Children with liver or kidney problems may need special consideration before using ofloxacin syrup. The medicine is processed and eliminated through these organs, so impaired liver or kidney function can increase the risk of side effects. The doctor may decide to avoid ofloxacin or adjust the treatment choice based on the severity of the child’s condition and test results. Always inform the doctor about any known liver or kidney disease before starting ofloxacin.
If your child has a known allergy to ofloxacin, any other fluoroquinolone antibiotic (such as ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, or moxifloxacin), or any ingredient in the syrup, they must not take this medicine. Signs of an allergic reaction can include rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe dizziness. If any of these occur, stop the medicine and seek emergency medical care. Inform the doctor about all previous drug allergies before starting treatment.
Yes. Ofloxacin syrup can interact with certain other medicines, which may change how it works or increase the risk of side effects. Examples include some medicines for seizures, heart rhythm problems, blood thinners, and drugs or supplements containing iron, zinc, magnesium, or aluminum. These may affect the absorption or safety of ofloxacin. Always provide the doctor and pharmacist with a complete list of your child’s medicines, including over‑the‑counter products and supplements, before starting ofloxacin.
