Most side effects are temporary and resolve as your body adapts to the medication. If these side effects persist or cause concern, consult your doctor.

General usage and interactions
CAUTIONTake Olvance 20 exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dose or stop the medicine without medical advice, even if you feel well.
Yes, the use of OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S can make you feel dizzy. This may occur when you suddenly get up from a lying or sitting position. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
You may notice a decrease in your blood pressure effectively within 1 weeks of starting OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S. However, it may take about 2 weeks to see the full benefits of this medicine.
Making lifestyle changes while taking OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S can boost your health. Avoid smoking, as smoking increases your risk of having a heart attack and stroke. If you are overweight or obese, try to lose weight. You should maintain a healthy diet by including fruits and vegetables in your meals. Regular exercise can make your heart strong and reduce the risk of a heart attack.
OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S does not have a diuretic. OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S is a medicine used to lower high blood pressure. It belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). These medicines lower blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels. When prescribed by a doctor, OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S can also be combined with a diuretic for providing additional benefit in the reduction of blood pressure.
Your doctor may suggest to take your first dose before bedtime, considering that this medicine can make you feel dizzy. After the very first dose you can take OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S at any time of the day. It is important to take this medicine at the same time every day.
You may have to take OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S life long. OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. Do not stop taking it even if your blood pressure is well controlled. OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S is generally considered safe to be taken for long term. In some cases, long-term use may adversely affect the kidneys and the kidneys may not function as they should. Therefore, to keep a track of how well your kidneys are working, your doctor may prescribe regular blood tests to check urea, creatinine and potassium levels.
No, OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S does not cause weight gain. However, in very rare cases, chronic diarrhea with substantial weight loss may occur. If a patient develops diarrhea while taking OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S and no other cause of diarrhea can be deduced, then the doctor may advise the patient to discontinue it immediately and recommend another medicine.
Your doctor may advise you to stop taking OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S 24 hours before surgery. This is because OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S can further reduce your blood pressure when used with anesthetics. So, tell your doctor that you are taking OLVANCE 20MG TABLET 10'S if you will be given general anesthetics (medicines that put you to sleep) or are scheduled to have any surgery.
Olvance 20 contains olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg and is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). By lowering blood pressure, it helps reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney damage. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with other blood pressure medicines, depending on your individual condition and your doctor’s judgment.
Olvance 20 belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). Angiotensin II is a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten and narrow. Olmesartan blocks the action of angiotensin II on its receptors, allowing blood vessels to relax and widen. This reduces resistance in the blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood.
Olvance 20 can be used in some patients with kidney problems, but it must be done with great caution and under close medical supervision. ARBs like olmesartan can affect kidney function and potassium levels, especially in people with pre-existing kidney disease, those who are dehydrated, or those taking diuretics or other medicines that affect the kidneys. Your doctor may order regular blood tests to monitor kidney function and electrolytes and may adjust your dose or change your treatment if needed. Never start or continue Olvance 20 with kidney disease without your doctor’s advice.
Olvance 20 is generally safe for people with normal liver function, but it should be used cautiously in patients with liver impairment. In moderate to severe liver disease, the way the body processes olmesartan can change, which may increase the risk of side effects. Your doctor will assess your liver function and decide whether Olvance 20 is appropriate for you, and if so, at what dose. If you develop symptoms such as persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, contact your doctor promptly.
Olvance 20 must not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, because medicines that act on the renin–angiotensin system, including olmesartan, can cause serious harm to the unborn baby, such as kidney damage, reduced amniotic fluid, skull abnormalities, or even fetal death. If you are planning to become pregnant, your doctor will usually switch you to another blood pressure medicine that is safer in pregnancy. If you become pregnant while taking Olvance 20, stop taking it and contact your doctor immediately for alternative treatment.
It is not clearly established how much olmesartan passes into breast milk, and safety data in breastfeeding infants are limited. Because of the potential risk to the baby, Olvance 20 is generally not recommended during breastfeeding, especially for newborns or premature infants. Your doctor will weigh the benefits of treatment for you against the potential risks to your child and may advise switching either to a different blood pressure medicine with more breastfeeding safety data or to an alternative feeding method.
Alcohol can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect of Olvance 20 and may increase the risk of dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when standing up quickly. It is advisable to limit or avoid alcohol while taking this medicine. If you choose to drink, do so in moderation and be aware of how you feel. Discuss your alcohol intake with your doctor so they can provide personalized advice based on your overall health and other medicines.
Olvance 20 can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fatigue in some people, particularly when starting treatment or after a dose change. These effects may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery safely. Until you know how Olvance 20 affects you, avoid driving, using heavy machinery, or performing tasks that require full alertness. If you experience persistent dizziness, blurred vision, or fainting, contact your doctor and do not drive until your condition is stable.
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to olmesartan, any other angiotensin II receptor blocker (such as losartan, valsartan, or telmisartan), or any of the inactive ingredients in Olvance 20, you should not take this medicine. Signs of a serious allergic reaction include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness, or rash with itching or blistering. If any of these occur, seek emergency medical help immediately. Inform your doctor about all your past drug allergies before starting Olvance 20 so they can choose a safe alternative if needed.
You should not stop taking Olvance 20 on your own, even if your blood pressure readings become normal. High blood pressure often has no symptoms, and stopping treatment suddenly can cause your blood pressure to rise again, increasing the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other complications. Any change in your treatment plan, including dose reduction or discontinuation, should be done only under your doctor’s supervision. Your doctor may gradually adjust your therapy based on your blood pressure, overall health, and lifestyle changes.
Common side effects of Olvance 20 may include dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, tiredness, or mild stomach discomfort. These are often related to the blood pressure-lowering effect and may improve as your body adjusts to the medicine. Less commonly, it can affect kidney function or potassium levels, which is why your doctor may order blood tests. Very rare but serious side effects include severe allergic reactions, marked decrease in urine output, or severe, persistent diarrhea with weight loss. Report any unusual or severe symptoms to your doctor promptly.
