OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child.

Infections and Immunity
Increased infection riskOmnacortil suppresses immune responses and can increase susceptibility to infections or worsen existing infections. It may also mask typical signs of infection such as fever and inflammation.
Yes, OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML is a steroid medicine also known as glucocorticoids which occur naturally in the body. These glucocorticoids help to maintain health and wellbeing. OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML increases the corticosteroids levels in the body which helps in treating various illnesses involving inflammation (redness, tenderness, heat, and swelling).
We use medicines to make our children better, but sometimes they may cause some unwanted side effects. However, the occurrence of side effects in the case of short-term use is not commonly observed. Side effects are more likely to appear in case of high dose, increased dose, or any long-term use. The doctor will use the lowest possible dose for as little time as possible to avoid side effects.
OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
It is advised not to get your child vaccinated while they are on treatment with OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML. Let your child recover from the ongoing illness and finish the complete course of the medicine. As soon as a child feels better, even if he or she is on antibiotics, the vaccine can be given after consulting the doctor.
Avoid giving OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML if your child is suffering from conditions like cardiac disease or congestive heart failure (except in the presence of active rheumatic carditis), hypertension, thromboembolic disorders, or diabetes mellitus. OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML should also be avoided if your child has a family history of active TB, active herpes infection, osteoporosis, myasthenia gravis, or renal insufficiency.
Keep the medicine in a cool dry place out of the reach of children and pets. This will help avoid any accidental intake.
One of the potential side effects of corticosteroid medicine is mood change, such as irritability which can lead to difficult behavior in some children. When used for the short term, it can increase blood pressure and blood sugar levels, causing some children to become hyperactive. For this reason, it is always recommended to give OMNACORTIL ORAL SOLUTION 60 ML in the morning, so there is less impact on sleep.
Omnacortil is a brand of prednisolone, a synthetic corticosteroid (glucocorticoid). Prednisolone is used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system in various conditions such as severe allergies, asthma exacerbations, autoimmune diseases, certain skin and joint disorders, and some blood and kidney diseases. It is a prescription-only medicine and should be used strictly under medical supervision.
Omnacortil (prednisolone) works by binding to glucocorticoid receptors inside cells and altering the expression of multiple genes involved in inflammation and immune responses. This leads to reduced production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines, decreased migration of inflammatory cells to affected tissues, and overall suppression of immune activity. As a result, swelling, redness, pain, and allergic symptoms are reduced.
Omnacortil is commonly prescribed for moderate to severe allergic reactions, asthma exacerbations, chronic obstructive airway diseases requiring systemic steroids, certain skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis flares, autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus and some types of vasculitis, rheumatoid and other inflammatory arthritis, certain blood disorders (for example immune thrombocytopenia), nephrotic syndrome, and as part of treatment regimens in some cancers. The exact indication and duration are determined by the treating physician.
Omnacortil should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken by mouth, preferably with food or milk to reduce stomach irritation. The dose, frequency, and duration depend on the condition being treated, your age, weight, and response to therapy. Do not change the dose, do not take it more often, and do not stop it suddenly without consulting your doctor, especially if you have been using it for more than a few days.
You should not stop Omnacortil abruptly if you have been taking it for more than a short period, unless your doctor specifically instructs you to do so. Sudden discontinuation after prolonged or high-dose use can lead to adrenal insufficiency, causing symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, low blood pressure, nausea, and dizziness, which can be serious. Your doctor will usually advise a gradual dose reduction (tapering) to allow your body’s natural steroid production to recover.
Common side effects of Omnacortil include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention (swelling of face, ankles, or feet), mood changes such as irritability or euphoria, difficulty sleeping, indigestion, and stomach discomfort. With longer-term use, there may be increased risk of high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, muscle weakness, thinning of the skin, acne, delayed wound healing, osteoporosis, and increased susceptibility to infections. Not everyone experiences these effects, but any persistent or severe symptom should be reported to your doctor.
Omnacortil can be used in children when clearly indicated, for example in certain allergic, respiratory, or kidney conditions, but it must be prescribed and closely monitored by a pediatrician or specialist. Long-term or repeated courses in children can affect growth, bone health, and infection risk. The dose in children is usually based on body weight and the specific condition. Parents should not give Omnacortil to a child without medical advice and should attend all recommended follow-up visits.
Prednisolone, the active ingredient in Omnacortil, may be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the mother and fetus. In some situations, systemic corticosteroids are necessary to control serious maternal disease. However, prolonged or high-dose use in pregnancy may be associated with risks such as fetal growth restriction or effects on the baby’s adrenal function. Pregnant women should not start or continue Omnacortil without discussing the risks and benefits with their obstetrician and treating specialist.
Yes, Omnacortil can interact with several medicines. Examples include certain anti-seizure drugs (such as phenytoin, carbamazepine), rifampicin, some antifungals, certain HIV medicines, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), diuretics that affect potassium levels, and blood thinners such as warfarin. These interactions may alter steroid levels, increase the risk of side effects, or affect the action of the other drugs. Always inform your doctor and pharmacist about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, and herbal supplements you are taking before starting Omnacortil.
Before and during treatment with Omnacortil, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, peptic ulcer, liver or kidney problems, osteoporosis, glaucoma, cataracts, psychiatric illness, or a history of serious infections such as tuberculosis. Avoid close contact with people who have contagious infections like chickenpox or measles if you are on significant doses of steroids. Do not receive live vaccines without medical advice while on immunosuppressive doses. Attend regular follow-up visits for monitoring of blood pressure, blood sugar, and other relevant tests as advised.
If you miss a dose of Omnacortil, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you frequently forget doses, discuss this with your doctor, as irregular intake may reduce treatment effectiveness and complicate dose adjustments or tapering plans.
