Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.

General Use and Administration
Follow instructionsOptidew eye drops are for external ophthalmic use only and must not be injected, ingested, or applied to other body sites.
Yes, some patients may experience blurring of vision, but it is temporary and passes away quickly. It is recommended that after instilling the eye drops, blink your eyes several times to spread it over the eye surface.
Yes, OPTIDEW EYE DROPS 10 ML can be used with contact lenses. However, your doctor will tell you whether you can use eye drops while wearing the contact lenses or you need to take out contact lenses and then instil the drops.
Continue using OPTIDEW EYE DROPS 10 ML as long as your doctor has recommended. The time duration will depend on your eye condition. It can be used for an extended period of time, if required.
It is recommended to use OPTIDEW EYE DROPS 10 ML 4 times a day or you can use it more than 4 times if your doctor has advised you, based on your eye condition.
OPTIDEW EYE DROPS 10 ML is a naturally occurring substance in the body and is also present in the eye. OPTIDEW EYE DROPS 10 ML eye drops are basically artificial tears which are required when there is a deficiency of hyaluronic acid in the eyes.
OPTIDEW EYE DROPS 10 ML is used for the treatment of dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). In addition to treating dryness, it is also helpful in protecting eyes. It is also used to treat dryness of cornea caused by trauma to it or when the eyes cannot be closed due to nerve paralysis.
You should use OPTIDEW EYE DROPS 10 ML exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not touch the tip of the container and avoid it coming in contact with eye or eyelid. After opening the eyelid, instil 1-2 drops in the eye with someone’s help. To prevent washout, try to avoid using any eye drop/eye ointment for 15 minutes at least.
Optidew eye drops are used to relieve symptoms of dry eye and ocular surface irritation, such as burning, stinging, grittiness, foreign body sensation, and transient blurred vision. They act as artificial tears, helping to lubricate and protect the surface of the eye when natural tear production or tear quality is reduced. They may be recommended for dry eye related to prolonged screen use, environmental factors, contact lens wear (if advised by an eye care professional), or certain medical conditions that affect tear production.
Optidew eye drops typically contain sodium hyaluronate as the main active ingredient. Sodium hyaluronate is a form of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring polymer that can hold large amounts of water and has viscoelastic properties. In the eye, it helps form a stable, protective, and lubricating film over the cornea and conjunctiva, improving tear film stability and reducing friction during blinking. The exact concentration and excipients may vary by product and manufacturer, so patients should refer to the package label for composition details.
Use Optidew eye drops exactly as directed on the product label or by your eye care professional. In general, they are instilled into the affected eye or eyes as needed for symptom relief. Before use, wash your hands thoroughly. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket, and instill the prescribed number of drops without touching the dropper tip to the eye or any surface. Close your eyes gently for a short period to allow the drop to spread. Do not use more frequently or for longer than recommended without medical advice.
Whether Optidew eye drops can be used while wearing contact lenses depends on the specific formulation, particularly the type of preservative used. Some lubricating eye drops are suitable for use with contact lenses, while others should be applied only before inserting or after removing lenses. Patients should check the product information and follow the instructions provided. If the label does not clearly state compatibility with contact lenses, it is safer to remove lenses before instillation and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them, or follow the advice of an eye care professional.
Optidew eye drops are generally well tolerated. The most commonly reported side effects are mild and transient, such as brief burning or stinging, mild irritation, or temporary blurred vision immediately after instillation. These effects usually resolve within a few minutes. Rarely, allergic or hypersensitivity reactions may occur, presenting as persistent redness, swelling of the eyelids, itching, increased tearing, or rash around the eyes. If any severe or persistent symptoms occur, or if vision changes significantly, the drops should be discontinued and medical advice sought promptly.
Sodium hyaluronate–based lubricating eye drops such as Optidew are minimally absorbed systemically when used as directed, and no direct harmful effects in pregnancy are expected based on their pharmacologic properties. However, controlled data in pregnant women are limited. Pregnant patients should inform their healthcare provider about all medicines they use, including eye drops. Use during pregnancy should be based on a clear need, and the lowest effective frequency of use should be followed as advised by a healthcare professional.
Systemic exposure to sodium hyaluronate from topical ocular use is expected to be very low, and clinically relevant transfer into breast milk is unlikely. Therefore, Optidew eye drops are generally considered compatible with breastfeeding when used as directed. Nevertheless, breastfeeding mothers should discuss all medications, including over-the-counter eye preparations, with their healthcare provider to ensure that use is appropriate for their individual situation.
Immediately after instilling Optidew eye drops, some individuals may experience transient blurred vision or a slight film over the eyes due to the lubricating properties of sodium hyaluronate. This effect usually resolves within a few minutes as the drop spreads and the tear film stabilizes. Patients should wait until their vision is clear before driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks that require sharp visual focus. If persistent visual disturbance occurs, they should stop using the drops and seek medical advice.
To minimize the risk of contamination and eye infection, always wash your hands before using Optidew eye drops. Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye, eyelids, fingers, or any other surface. Replace the cap tightly after each use and keep the bottle closed when not in use. Do not share your eye drops with other people. Use the product within the period specified on the label after opening, and discard any remaining solution after that time or if the solution becomes cloudy, discolored, or contains particles.
Optidew eye drops should not be used by individuals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to sodium hyaluronate or any other component of the formulation, including preservatives or excipients listed on the package. Patients with active eye infections, unexplained eye pain, sudden changes in vision, or severe redness should seek medical evaluation before using lubricating drops as self-treatment. If there is any doubt about suitability, especially in people with complex ocular conditions or recent eye surgery, an ophthalmologist should be consulted.
Optidew eye drops can often be used alongside other ophthalmic medications, but they should not be mixed in the eye at the same time. If multiple eye drops are prescribed, they should generally be administered at least 5 to 10 minutes apart to prevent dilution and ensure adequate absorption of each medication. Thicker preparations such as ointments are usually applied last. Patients should follow the specific schedule provided by their eye care professional and inform them about all eye products they are using, including over-the-counter lubricants.
