Signs include headache, confusion, nausea, tiredness, muscle weakness or cramps, and more frequent or severe seizures — report these to your doctor.Serious (seek urgent medical attention): any skin rash, blistering, or peeling (rare but serious reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome can occur); swelling of the face, lips, or throat; signs of an allergic or multi-organ reaction; and new or worsening depression, mood changes, or thoughts of self-harm, which anti-epileptic medicines can rarely trigger.
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually twice a day, with or without food, at the same times each day. Swallow the tablet with water. If you find tablets hard to swallow, ask your doctor about a liquid form. Taking it consistently keeps a steady level in your body.
No. Stopping suddenly can cause seizures to return, sometimes worse than before. If the medicine needs to be stopped or changed, your doctor will reduce it gradually. Never stop on your own.

Your doctor may check your blood sodium levels, especially in the first few months, because oxcarbazepine can lower sodium. Report symptoms like confusion, tiredness, muscle cramps, or worsening seizures promptly, and keep your blood-test appointments.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, as the medicine may need review — do not stop it on your own. Also note it can reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives (pills, patches), so discuss reliable contraception, and inform your doctor of all other medicines you take.
