How PULMOCLEAR TABLET 15'S Works

• Acebrophylline combines ambroxol with theophylline-7-acetic acid. The ambroxol part stimulates surfactant, a natural substance that stops mucus sticking to the airway walls, and helps the tiny hairs lining the airways move mucus upwards. The xanthine part has a mild bronchodilator effect. Acebrophylline is also thought to reduce some inflammatory signals in the airways.
• Acetylcysteine breaks the chemical bonds that hold mucus proteins together, so thick phlegm becomes thinner and easier to cough up. It is also an antioxidant.

Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhoea and headache can occur. Taking the tablet after food may reduce stomach upset. Xanthine medicines can cause a fast heartbeat, palpitations, restlessness and difficulty sleeping. Acetylcysteine can occasionally trigger bronchospasm, a tightening of the airways, especially in people with asthma. Serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome have been reported in isolated cases. New wheeze or breathlessness, any blistering rash or mouth sores, swelling of the face, a racing or irregular heartbeat, or a fit need urgent medical attention.

• If you miss a dose of PULMOCLEAR TABLET 15'S, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

• Store the strip in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Fourrts pack. Keep it out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Keep using prescribed inhalers
• Take it after food to reduce stomach upset
• Space oral antibiotics 2 hours apart from it
• Stop it and seek help if wheezing gets worse
• Stop smoking and keep up to date with flu and pneumonia vaccines
• Drink plenty of fluids unless the doctor has restricted them

• Taking the tablet after food can reduce stomach upset. Large amounts of tea, coffee or energy drinks can add to the palpitations and restlessness of xanthine medicines.
