How RELUEASE TABLET 10'S Works

• Relugolix blocks the receptor for gonadotropin-releasing hormone at the pituitary gland. This interrupts the signal that would normally stimulate the ovaries, so the ovaries produce much less oestrogen and progesterone. Uterine fibroids and endometriosis are both driven by these hormones, so lowering them reduces the heavy bleeding fibroids cause and the pain endometriosis causes.
• Suppressing oestrogen this strongly would also cause bone thinning and menopause-like symptoms such as hot flushes on its own. Estradiol is added back at a low amount to limit this effect. Norethindrone is included to protect the lining of the womb, since oestrogen given without a progestin can cause the womb lining to overgrow.

Hot flushes, night sweats, headache, spotting or bleeding between periods, hair thinning, mood changes and reduced interest in sex are commonly reported. Raised blood pressure and gallbladder problems, including gallstones, have also been reported. Reluease carries a risk of blood clots. Pain or swelling in one leg, sudden chest pain or breathlessness, or sudden severe headache, weakness or a change in vision or speech need emergency medical attention, since the last group can be signs of a stroke. Severe abdominal pain, particularly under the right ribs, and yellowing of the skin or eyes also need prompt medical assessment. New or worsening low mood, or thoughts of self-harm, should be reported to the prescriber without delay. Long-term use can reduce bone density in a way that may not fully reverse, which is why treatment duration is limited by the prescriber.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, out of the reach of children and pets. Keep them at the temperature stated on the current Sun Pharma pack. Do not use the tablets after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Take the tablet at a similar time each day, as directed by the prescriber
• Avoid smoking while taking this medicine, particularly for women over 35
• Use effective non-hormonal contraception during treatment, since this medicine is not a reliable contraceptive
• Tell the prescriber about any history of blood clots, stroke, liver disease or hormone-sensitive cancer before starting
• Keep bone density scan and follow-up appointments arranged by the prescriber
• Seek urgent medical help for leg swelling, chest pain, breathlessness, sudden severe headache, or vision or speech changes
• Report new or worsening low mood, or thoughts of self-harm, to the prescriber promptly

• Reluease can be taken with or without food.
• Alcohol has not been specifically documented to interact with this combination, though alcohol can affect liver function, and liver health matters while taking this medicine.
