How RIVMD SMART 0.5MG TABLET 30'S Works

• Clonazepam strengthens the effect of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), the main chemical messenger that quietens nerve activity in the brain. It attaches to the GABA-A receptor on nerve cells, and GABA then opens that receptor's channel more easily.
• More GABA activity damps down the bursts of electrical firing that spread into a seizure. The same action lowers the surge of fear and physical arousal in a panic attack. It also relaxes muscles and causes sleepiness, which explains most of its side effects.

Most side effects come from the calming action of clonazepam and are most noticeable at the start of treatment or after an increase in dose. Drowsiness, slowed reactions, unsteadiness and poor coordination make falls and fractures more likely, particularly in older adults. Taking clonazepam regularly leads to dependence. Stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms, including anxiety, restlessness, tremor, sweating, headache, muscle pain and, in people with epilepsy, a return or worsening of seizures. Anti-seizure medicines, including clonazepam, have been linked to thoughts of self-harm or suicide in a small number of people. Mood changes, low mood or such thoughts need prompt medical attention. Confusion, agitation or aggression can also occur. Slowed breathing is a rare but serious effect, most likely when clonazepam is combined with opioids or alcohol. Clonazepam can increase saliva and airway secretions, which matters in young children and people with breathing difficulties.

• If you miss a dose of RIVMD SMART 0.5MG TABLET 30'S, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

• Keep the tablets in their strip until use, since mouth dissolving tablets absorb moisture easily. Store the pack in a dry place away from heat and direct sunlight, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Abbott pack. Keep the pack locked away and out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Place the tablet on the tongue and let it dissolve, with dry hands
• Never stop clonazepam suddenly, as the dose needs to be reduced gradually
• Avoid alcohol completely during treatment
• Check with the doctor before taking any cough syrup or painkiller that contains codeine or another opioid
• Do not drive until the specialist confirms it is safe
• Report low mood, unusual thoughts or behaviour changes promptly
• Keep the tablets locked away and never share them
