How ROXID 300MG TABLET 10'S Works

• Roxithromycin belongs to the macrolide class of antibiotics. It binds to a component of the bacterial ribosome, the cell structure bacteria use to build proteins, and blocks this process.
• Since bacteria need these proteins for essential functions such as building their cell wall and multiplying, this action stops susceptible bacteria from growing and spreading, allowing the body's own defences to clear the infection. Because this targets a bacterial structure not present in human cells, the effect on the body's own cells is minimal.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain are commonly reported. Headache, dizziness, skin rash and itching have also been reported. A severe allergic reaction, facial or throat swelling, or a noticeably irregular heartbeat need immediate medical attention. Persistent or bloody diarrhoea after starting this medicine should also be reported promptly, since it can be a sign of a more serious bowel reaction to the antibiotic.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use the tablets after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Take the tablet on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after a meal
• Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early
• Avoid taking antacids within two hours of a dose
• Tell the prescriber about any heart rhythm condition or liver disease before starting
• Stay well hydrated throughout the course
• Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling, a widespread rash, breathing difficulty, or severe or bloody diarrhoea

• Roxid is best taken on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after a meal, since food can reduce how well it is absorbed.
