Allergies
Contraindicated in known allergyDo not take Saltum 375 if you have a known allergy to its active ingredient(s) or to other closely related antibiotics, as serious reactions can occur.
Saltum 375 is generally used to treat bacterial infections, such as infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose and throat, urinary tract, and skin and soft tissues, depending on local guidelines and the doctor’s judgment. It should only be used when a healthcare professional believes that a bacterial infection is likely or confirmed, and that the bacteria are expected to be sensitive to the antibiotic contained in Saltum 375.
Take Saltum 375 exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose, frequency, and duration depend on your age, weight, type and severity of infection, and your kidney and liver function. Swallow the tablet or capsule with water, with or without food, as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not change the dose, do not stop early, and do not share your medicine with others. If you are unsure about how to take it, ask your doctor or pharmacist for clear instructions.
If you have liver disease or a history of liver problems, you must inform your doctor before starting Saltum 375. Many antibiotics are processed by the liver, and dose adjustments, closer monitoring, or an alternative antibiotic may be needed. Watch for signs of liver trouble such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, severe fatigue, or persistent nausea, and seek medical advice immediately if these occur while taking Saltum 375.
In people with reduced kidney function, the body may clear some antibiotics more slowly, which can increase the risk of side effects. If you have kidney disease, are on dialysis, or have a history of kidney problems, tell your doctor before using Saltum 375. Your doctor may adjust the dose, change the dosing interval, or choose a different antibiotic. Do not use leftover antibiotics or someone else’s prescription if you have kidney issues.
Use of Saltum 375 during pregnancy should be based on a careful assessment of benefits and risks by your doctor. Some antibiotics are considered relatively safe in pregnancy, while others are avoided, especially in the first trimester. Do not start or continue Saltum 375 if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy without discussing it with your doctor. Your doctor will decide whether this medicine is appropriate or if an alternative is better suited for you and your baby.
Many antibiotics pass into breast milk in small amounts. Whether Saltum 375 is suitable during breastfeeding depends on its exact active ingredients and your baby’s health. Always tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding before starting this medicine. Your doctor will weigh the benefits of treating your infection against any potential risks to the infant and may advise monitoring the baby for diarrhea, rash, or thrush, or may recommend an alternative antibiotic if necessary.
Moderate alcohol intake does not interact significantly with many common antibiotics, but alcohol can worsen side effects such as stomach upset, dizziness, and drowsiness, and may impair your body’s ability to fight infection. Some specific antibiotics can have more serious interactions with alcohol. Because the exact formulation of Saltum 375 can vary, it is safest to limit or avoid alcohol while on treatment and to follow the advice of your doctor or pharmacist.
Saltum 375 does not usually impair the ability to drive or operate machinery directly, but some people may experience side effects such as dizziness, headache, fatigue, or confusion. If you feel unwell, light‑headed, unusually tired, or have any symptoms that could affect concentration or coordination, avoid driving, cycling, or operating heavy machinery until you feel normal again. If these symptoms persist, contact your doctor.
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to any antibiotic, especially reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe skin reactions, inform your doctor before taking Saltum 375. You may be advised not to take it if it belongs to the same or a related antibiotic class. If you develop symptoms of allergy after starting Saltum 375, such as rash, hives, swelling, or breathing difficulty, stop taking it and seek urgent medical attention.
Possible side effects with Saltum 375 are similar to those seen with many oral antibiotics and may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, and mild skin rash. These are often mild and temporary. However, serious side effects can occur, such as severe or persistent diarrhea, signs of liver problems (yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine), severe skin reactions, or allergic reactions with swelling and breathing difficulty. If you experience any severe, unusual, or rapidly worsening symptoms, contact your doctor or emergency services immediately.
You should not stop taking Saltum 375 earlier than prescribed, even if you start to feel better after a few days. Stopping too soon can allow some bacteria to survive, which may cause the infection to return and can contribute to antibiotic resistance. Complete the full course unless your doctor specifically tells you to stop because of side effects or a change in treatment plan.
