How SMUTH CREAM 30 GM Works

• Piles are swollen blood vessels in and around the anus. They can become inflamed, itchy and painful, and they bleed easily when stools are hard.
• Lidocaine blocks nerve signals from the anal skin, easing pain, burning and itching. Hydrocortisone calms inflammation, reducing swelling and itch. Zinc oxide forms a soothing, protective layer over irritated skin. Calcium dobesilate is thought to strengthen small blood vessel walls and reduce fluid leakage, which may help reduce swelling.

Burning, stinging, itching or redness can occur where the cream is applied. Local anaesthetics such as lidocaine can sensitise the skin with repeated use, causing an allergic rash. Using a steroid cream for longer than advised can thin the delicate anal skin and cause irritation or a rash. An allergic reaction with spreading rash, swelling or blistering means the cream should be stopped.

• Apply the cream as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.

• Store the tube tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Aristo pack. Keep it out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Use it for the shortest time needed
• Eat more fibre, such as whole grains, fruit, vegetables and pulses
• Drink plenty of water
• Do not strain, and do not sit on the toilet for long
• Keep the area clean and dry
• See a doctor for bleeding, weight loss or a change in bowel habit

• No food interactions are expected, since the cream is applied to the skin. A high-fibre diet with plenty of fluids softens stools, which helps piles heal and reduces flare-ups.
