How TAGRISSO 80MG TABLET 10'S Works

• Osimertinib is a targeted therapy that blocks the action of the EGFR protein when it carries specific mutations that make it overly active. By blocking this abnormal signalling, osimertinib interferes with the pathway that drives uncontrolled growth and division of the cancer cells carrying these mutations.
• Because it targets a molecular feature specific to the tumour rather than all rapidly dividing cells, osimertinib is used only after a test confirms the presence of the relevant EGFR mutations in the cancer.

Diarrhoea, decreased appetite, rash, dry skin, nail changes, tiredness, cough and mouth soreness are the most commonly reported effects. Reductions in white blood cells, platelets, or red blood cells (anaemia) can also occur and are monitored with regular blood tests. Breathing difficulty together with a cough or fever needs prompt medical attention, since it can be a sign of lung inflammation. Decreased heart function or an irregular heartbeat, and new eye problems, also need prompt medical evaluation.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, below 25°C unless the pack states otherwise, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

• Take at the same time each day, with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, split or chew it
• Use effective contraception during treatment and for the period advised after the last dose
• Report new or worsening breathing difficulty, cough or fever promptly, since this needs urgent evaluation
• Report any new eye symptoms, palpitations or unusual bruising or bleeding promptly
• Attend all scheduled blood tests and check-ups during treatment

• Tagrisso can be taken with or without food. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be discussed with the doctor, since they may affect how this medicine is processed by the body.
