TEMOREL 5 CAPSULE 5'S contains temozolomide as its active ingredient, belonging to a class of drugs known as antitumor agents. It is primarily used in the treatment of brain cancers, specifically glioblastoma multiforme in adults, and malignant glioma, including glioblastoma multiforme or anaplastic astrocytoma, in patients over the age of three. Glioblastoma and anaplastic astrocytoma are aggressive forms of brain cancer with limited survival rates. Anaplastic astrocytoma is managed with TEMOREL 5 CAPSULE 5'S or radiotherapy post-biopsy, whereas glioblastoma multiforme is treated using a combination of radiotherapy and TEMOREL 5 CAPSULE 5'S, followed by maintenance therapy with the medication.
TEMOREL 5 CAPSULE 5'S works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells, which prevents them from growing and multiplying. This helps to slow down the progression of the cancer and may lead to remission in some cases.
