The recommended starting dose is 40 mg once daily. If uric acid levels remain high after two to four weeks, the dose may be increased to 80 mg once daily. The maximum recommended dose is 120 mg once daily.

This can help prevent the formation of kidney stones, which can be a side effect of the medication. Consuming alcohol while taking this drug may increase your risk of developing gout flares. It is recommended to limit your alcohol intake or avoid it altogether while taking this tablet.
