Common: increased tendency to bruise or bleed, breathlessness (a known, usually harmless effect of ticagrelor), and headache. Serious (seek medical attention): signs of significant bleeding — black or bloody stools, vomiting or coughing blood, unusually heavy or prolonged bleeding, severe or unexplained headache; sudden severe breathlessness; or a slow heartbeat/fainting. After any injury, especially to the head, get checked.
Take one tablet twice a day (about every 12 hours), with or without food, usually with low-dose aspirin as prescribed. Do not exceed the prescribed aspirin dose, as higher aspirin reduces ticagrelor's benefit.
