If left untreated, severe hypoglycemia can lead to loss of consciousness and even be fatal. * Gastrointestinal disturbances: Such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation. **Uncommon Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):** * Visual disturbances: Especially at the start of treatment, due to changes in blood sugar levels. **Rare Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):** * Skin reactions: Such as rash, itching, hives, and angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat). * Blood disorders: Such as a decrease in the number of blood cells (e.g., platelets, red blood cells, white blood cells), which can cause bleeding, paleness, and increased susceptibility to infections. *Consult your doctor if you experience unexplained bruising, bleeding, fever, sore throat or other signs of an infection.* * Liver problems: Such as hepatitis (inflammation of the liver), jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), and abnormal liver function tests.
