About TRYPTOMER 10MG TABLET 30'S

  • Tryptomer 10mg Tablet 30's is a prescription medicine marketed in India by Dr Reddy's Laboratories Limited. Each tablet contains amitriptyline 10 mg.
  • Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant, a medicine that increases the levels of serotonin and noradrenaline, chemical messengers in the brain linked to mood. Beyond depression, amitriptyline is also used at low amounts for certain types of long-term nerve pain and to help prevent migraine, because the same chemical messengers are involved in how the brain processes pain signals.

Uses of TRYPTOMER 10MG TABLET 30'S

  • Depression
  • Neuropathic pain, long-term pain caused by nerve damage
  • Prevention of migraine
  • Certain anxiety-related conditions, on a doctor's assessment

How TRYPTOMER 10MG TABLET 30'S Works

  • Amitriptyline blocks the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline, chemical messengers involved in mood regulation, back into nerve cells. This raises the amount of these chemical messengers available between nerve cells, which helps lift mood over time.
  • The same chemical messengers are involved in how the spinal cord and brain process pain signals, which is why amitriptyline, at a lower amount than used for depression, can reduce the pain of nerve damage and help prevent migraine attacks.
  • Amitriptyline also has a sedating effect and blocks certain other receptors in the body, which contributes to some of its side effects, including dry mouth, constipation and drowsiness.

Side Effects of TRYPTOMER 10MG TABLET 30'SArrow

Dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, drowsiness and weight gain are common and relate to amitriptyline's effect on receptors beyond those involved in mood. These often lessen as the body adjusts. A sudden fall in blood pressure on standing, confusion, tremor and difficulty passing urine are reported more often in older adults, who are more sensitive to amitriptyline's effects. A change in heart rhythm, chest pain, fainting or severe dizziness needs prompt medical assessment, particularly at higher amounts or in anyone with existing heart disease. Any new or worsening low mood, agitation or thoughts of self-harm, especially in the first weeks of treatment or after a change in amount, should be reported to the prescriber immediately.

  • Nausea
  • Constipation
  • Dry mouth
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Fatigue
  • Confusion
  • Tremor
  • Weight gain
  • Blurred vision
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • Sudden fall in blood pressure on standing

Dosage of TRYPTOMER 10MG TABLET 30'SArrow

  • The amount, timing and duration of treatment depend on the condition being treated, the individual's age and response, and other medical conditions, and must be decided by the prescriber. The amount written on the current prescription should be followed exactly, and it should not be changed or stopped without the prescriber's advice.
  • It may take several weeks of regular use for the full benefit for depression to appear, though pain relief or improved sleep can sometimes appear earlier.
  • Amitriptyline is dangerous in overdose because of its effect on the heart. Suspected overdose needs emergency medical assessment.

How to store TRYPTOMER 10MG TABLET 30'S?Arrow

  • Store the tablets in their original pack, out of the reach of children and pets. Keep them at room temperature as stated on the current Dr Reddy's pack. Do not use the tablets after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Benefits of TRYPTOMER 10MG TABLET 30'SArrow

  • For depression, amitriptyline can improve mood over several weeks of regular use. For neuropathic pain and migraine prevention, the same mechanism reduces how the nervous system processes and transmits pain and headache signals, which can lessen how often attacks occur and how severe they are.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break the tablet.
  • The tablet can be taken with or without food, and taking it at a similar time each day, often in the evening because of its sedating effect, helps keep a steady level of the medicine in the body.
