How ULPAN GEL 200 ML Works

• Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are antacids that neutralise excess acid in the stomach, which relieves burning and discomfort. Combining the two balances their effect on the bowel, since aluminium salts tend to cause constipation while magnesium salts tend to loosen stools.
• Oxetacaine is a local anaesthetic that numbs the inner lining of the food pipe and stomach, giving added relief from the pain and burning of acidity, on top of the antacid effect of the other two ingredients.

Constipation (from the aluminium component) and diarrhoea or loose stools (from the magnesium component) are the most commonly reported effects. Nausea, a chalky or altered taste, and temporary numbness in the mouth have also been reported. An allergic reaction to any ingredient is uncommon but needs immediate medical attention if it occurs, including a rash, swelling or difficulty breathing.

• If you miss a dose of Ulpan Gel, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

• Store the bottle in its original pack, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

• Shake the bottle well before each use and measure the dose with the cap or cup provided
• Take after meals and at bedtime, or as the doctor advises
• Space other medicines about two hours apart from this gel
• Avoid trigger foods such as spicy or fatty food, caffeine and alcohol
• Seek medical advice if acidity persists for more than a couple of weeks
• Seek urgent medical help for severe abdominal pain, bloody stools or persistent vomiting

• Ulpan Gel is generally taken after meals and at bedtime. There are no specific food restrictions, though avoiding spicy or strongly acidic foods can help reduce symptoms.
