Heart and circulation
Use with extreme caution or avoidBecause ergotamine causes vasoconstriction, Vasograin EC Tablet is contraindicated in patients with coronary artery disease, history of myocardial infarction, angina, peripheral arterial disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or severe cerebrovascular disease.
Vasograin EC Tablet is primarily used for the acute treatment of migraine attacks, with or without aura, in adults who have been properly diagnosed with migraine by a healthcare professional. It helps relieve the throbbing headache and associated symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. It is not intended for routine treatment of common headaches, tension‑type headaches, or for prevention of migraine attacks.
Vasograin EC Tablet usually contains ergotamine tartrate and caffeine. Ergotamine constricts dilated cranial blood vessels and inhibits the release of inflammatory neuropeptides involved in migraine. Caffeine enhances the absorption and effect of ergotamine and has mild vasoconstrictor and adjuvant analgesic properties. Together, these actions reduce the vascular and neurogenic components of a migraine attack, thereby decreasing headache intensity and associated symptoms.
No. Vasograin EC Tablet is not a preventive or prophylactic medicine for migraine. It is intended only for the acute treatment of an ongoing migraine attack and should be taken at the earliest sign of migraine, exactly as prescribed. For prevention of frequent or severe migraines, other medications such as beta‑blockers, certain antiepileptics, antidepressants, or CGRP‑targeted therapies may be considered by your doctor based on your clinical profile.
The exact dose, timing, and maximum number of Vasograin EC Tablets per day or per week must be decided by your doctor, based on your age, medical history, and severity of migraine. Generally, it is taken orally with water at the onset of a migraine attack. Do not chew or crush enteric‑coated tablets unless advised. Never exceed the maximum daily or weekly dose specified by your prescriber, and do not repeat doses more frequently than recommended. If you are unsure about your dosing schedule, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, mild increase in blood pressure, and tingling or numbness in fingers and toes. Some people may experience muscle pain or a feeling of coldness in the extremities. These effects are usually dose‑related. If side effects are persistent, bothersome, or worsen, you should contact your doctor. Any sudden or severe symptoms such as chest pain, severe limb pain, marked pallor or bluish discoloration of fingers or toes, or difficulty breathing require urgent medical attention.
Vasograin EC Tablet is contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity to ergotamine, caffeine, or any excipients in the formulation; those with coronary artery disease, history of heart attack, angina, peripheral vascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, severe liver or kidney impairment, sepsis, or severe systemic infections. It must not be used in pregnancy or during breastfeeding. It is also contraindicated in patients taking potent CYP3A4 inhibitors, certain macrolide antibiotics, some antifungals, protease inhibitors, or other ergot derivatives, due to the risk of serious vasospasm and ergotism. Always inform your doctor about your full medical history before starting this medicine.
Vasograin EC Tablet should not be taken together with triptans (such as sumatriptan, rizatriptan, zolmitriptan) or within a specified interval before or after triptan use, because the combination can cause excessive vasoconstriction and increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events. Your doctor will advise an appropriate washout period between ergotamine‑containing products and triptans. Do not combine Vasograin EC Tablet with other ergot derivatives or over‑the‑counter migraine remedies without medical advice.
Vasograin EC Tablet is contraindicated in pregnancy because ergotamine can cause uterine contractions, reduced placental blood flow, and may lead to miscarriage, fetal distress, or other serious complications. It should also be avoided in women planning pregnancy or those who may be pregnant but not yet confirmed. If you become pregnant or suspect pregnancy while taking this medicine, stop using it and contact your doctor immediately. Your doctor can recommend safer alternatives for migraine management during pregnancy.
No. Vasograin EC Tablet should not be used during breastfeeding. Ergotamine can pass into breast milk and may cause serious adverse effects in the nursing infant, including vomiting, diarrhea, weak pulse, unstable blood pressure, and possible suppression of lactation. If treatment with an ergotamine‑containing product is considered essential, breastfeeding should be discontinued, and you should discuss alternative feeding options and safer migraine treatments with your doctor.
Use Vasograin EC Tablet only as prescribed and do not exceed the recommended daily or weekly limits. Inform your doctor about any history of heart disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, smoking, or use of hormonal contraceptives, as these factors may increase the risk of vascular side effects. Avoid combining this medicine with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, other ergot derivatives, or triptans. Limit or avoid alcohol, monitor for symptoms such as severe limb pain, cold or pale extremities, chest pain, or shortness of breath, and seek immediate medical help if they occur. Do not use the medicine for undiagnosed headaches or on more days per month than your doctor recommends, to reduce the risk of medication‑overuse headache.
If a prescribed dose of Vasograin EC Tablet does not provide adequate relief, do not take extra tablets or repeat the dose sooner than advised, as this can increase the risk of serious side effects. Instead, follow the rescue plan given by your doctor, which may include alternative medications or non‑drug measures. If your migraines frequently fail to respond to the prescribed regimen, or if the pattern of your headaches changes (for example, they become more severe, more frequent, or different in character), consult your doctor promptly for reassessment and possible adjustment of your treatment plan.
Have a great place to purchase medicine.
