About ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 ML

  • Zentel Oral Suspension 10 ml is a prescription anthelmintic medicine marketed in India by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) Pharmaceuticals Limited. Each 5 ml contains albendazole 200 mg.
  • Albendazole treats infections caused by intestinal worms such as roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and pinworm. It works by blocking the worm's ability to take up glucose, its main energy source, which weakens the worm until it dies. The dead worms are then passed out of the body in the stool.

Uses of ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 ML

  • Intestinal worm infections, including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and pinworm

How ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 ML Works

  • Worm eggs or larvae can enter the body through contaminated food, water or soil, often when hands or food are not washed properly. Once inside the intestine, the worms attach to the gut wall and feed there.
  • Albendazole blocks the worm's ability to absorb glucose, its main source of energy. Without glucose, the worm's energy reserves are depleted and it dies, after which it is passed out of the body in the stool.

Side Effects of ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 MLArrow

Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain and loss of appetite are commonly reported and are usually mild and temporary. A rise in liver enzymes on blood tests can also occur. Unusual bleeding or bruising, dark urine, persistent nausea, pale stools, or yellowing of the skin or eyes need prompt medical attention, since these can be signs of a liver problem. Rash, facial swelling or breathing difficulty are signs of an allergic reaction and need immediate medical attention.

Dosage of ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 MLArrow

  • The amount and length of treatment depend on the type of infection, the patient's age and body weight, and must be decided by the prescriber. The amount written on the current prescription for this exact product should be followed, using the measuring cup or spoon supplied with the pack.
  • Some infections are cleared with a single dose, while others need a longer course over several days or weeks, and a repeat dose after a few weeks is sometimes advised to prevent reinfection. The full course prescribed should be completed even if symptoms improve earlier.
  • Taking more than the prescribed amount does not clear the infection faster and increases the risk of side effects. Suspected overdose needs prompt medical assessment.

How to store ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 ML?Arrow

  • Store the bottle in its original pack, out of the reach of children and pets. Keep it at room temperature as stated on the current GSK pack. Do not use the suspension after the expiry date printed on the carton.

Benefits of ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 MLArrow

  • Albendazole clears the worm infection with a course directed by the prescriber, and completing the full course as advised, rather than stopping early, reduces the chance of the infection returning.

How to use ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 MLArrow

  • Shake the bottle well before each dose and measure the prescribed amount using the measuring cup or spoon supplied with the pack. Giving it with a fat-containing food, such as milk, can improve how well it is absorbed.
  • If vomiting occurs within thirty minutes of a dose, the dose is usually repeated, but this should be confirmed with the prescriber or pharmacist.

  • Shake the bottle well and measure each dose with the cup or spoon supplied
  • Give it with a fat-containing food, such as milk, to improve absorption
  • Complete the full course prescribed, even if symptoms improve earlier
  • The prescriber may suggest treating the whole household at the same time, since worm infections spread easily between family members
  • Encourage regular handwashing and keep nails trimmed short to reduce the chance of reinfection
  • Report unusual bleeding, dark urine, pale stools or yellowing of the skin or eyes to the doctor promptly

Food Interactions with ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION 10 MLArrow

  • Giving Zentel Oral Suspension with a fat-containing food, such as milk, improves how well albendazole is absorbed.
