Allergies
UnsafeDo not take if you have a known allergy to cefixime, clavulanate, or any penicillin-type antibiotics.
ZIFI CV 100mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medication used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children. This includes infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, urinary tract, and skin.
ZIFI CV 100mg Dry Syrup contains Cefixime as the primary antibiotic and Potassium Clavulanate as a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Potassium Clavulanate helps Cefixime work more effectively against bacteria that might otherwise be resistant.
First, shake the bottle well to loosen the powder. Add boiled and cooled water up to the mark on the bottle. Close the cap and shake vigorously until the powder is completely dissolved. Ensure you measure the dose accurately using the provided measuring spoon or dropper as advised by your doctor. Administer the medicine at the same time each day.
The dosage depends on the child's age, weight, and the severity of the infection. Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding the dose and duration. Do not alter the dose or stop the medication prematurely.
Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, and skin rash. Most side effects are mild and temporary. Consult your doctor if they persist or worsen.
ZIFI CV 100mg Dry Syrup can be given with or without food. However, giving it with food might help reduce stomach upset in some children. Follow your doctor's specific advice.
If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for the next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.
Symptoms of overdose may include severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, or seizures (though rare). In case of a suspected overdose, seek immediate medical attention or contact your poison control center.
After reconstitution, store the syrup in the refrigerator (2-8°C) and use it within 7 days. Do not freeze. Discard any unused portion after 7 days. Store the dry powder at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
No, ZIFI CV 100mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic and is effective only against bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections like the common cold, flu, or sore throat caused by viruses. Using antibiotics unnecessarily can lead to antibiotic resistance.
Inform your doctor if your child has any history of allergies to antibiotics (especially penicillin or cephalosporins), kidney disease, liver disease, or a history of gastrointestinal issues like colitis.
You might notice an improvement in your child's symptoms within a few days of starting the medication. However, it's crucial to complete the entire prescribed course of treatment, even if your child feels better, to fully eliminate the infection and prevent recurrence or development of resistance.
While ZIFI CV contains Cefixime (a cephalosporin), which has a lower risk of cross-reactivity with penicillin compared to some other antibiotics, it's crucial to inform your doctor about any penicillin allergy. They will assess the risk and decide if it's safe for your child.
ZIFI 100mg Dry Syrup contains only Cefixime. ZIFI CV 100mg Dry Syrup contains both Cefixime and Potassium Clavulanate. The addition of Potassium Clavulanate helps to overcome bacterial resistance, making ZIFI CV effective against a broader range of bacteria, especially those that produce beta-lactamase enzymes.
Yes, diarrhea is a common side effect of antibiotics, including ZIFI CV, as they can disturb the natural balance of gut bacteria. If your child experiences mild diarrhea, ensure they stay hydrated. If diarrhea is severe, watery, bloody, or accompanied by fever, consult your doctor immediately as it could indicate a more serious condition.
Inform your doctor about all other medicines your child is taking, including over-the-counter drugs, herbal supplements, and vitamins. Specific interactions may occur with anticoagulants (blood thinners) like warfarin, or certain vaccines. Your doctor will advise you on potential interactions.
