1 AL SYRUP 30 ML is generally well-tolerated by children and does not usually cause serious side effects. If side effects do occur, they are likely to be temporary as the body adjusts to the medication. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome, it is important to consult your child's doctor.

Allergies
Contraindicated in hypersensitivityDo not use 1 AL syrup if you are known to be allergic to its active ingredient (such as levocetirizine or related compounds) or any of the excipients in the formulation.
No, although this medicine causes drowsiness as a side effect, it should not be given to induce sleep in children. Consult your child’s doctor if your child has trouble sleeping as it could be due to some other underlying condition.
1 AL SYRUP 30 ML can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting 1 AL SYRUP 30 ML. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
1 AL SYRUP 30 ML should be given strictly as prescribed by your child’s doctor. The dose of the medicine is calculated according to your child’s body weight and age. Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own as it may cause unwanted effects and can worsen your child’s condition.
Although 1 AL SYRUP 30 ML is relatively safe to use in children yet an excessive amount may cause some serious side effects such as seizures, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, irritability, slow breathing, and coma.
Store 1 AL SYRUP 30 ML at room temperature, in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children to avoid any accidental intake.
Always consult your child’s doctor at every step in case of any confusion. However, immediate assistance may be required if your child develops serious side effects. These may include allergic reactions (such as facial swelling, trouble breathing), signs of liver problem (such as dark-colored urine, yellow eyes or skin), excessive sleepiness, rapid heartbeat, hallucinations, feeling confused or hyperactive, trouble passing urine, irritability, and vision changes.
1 AL syrup is generally used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis (such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itching, and watery eyes) and chronic urticaria (hives, skin redness, and itching). It contains an antihistamine that helps block the action of histamine, a chemical released during allergic reactions. Use it only if prescribed or recommended by a healthcare professional.
1 AL syrup typically contains a second-generation antihistamine that selectively blocks H1 histamine receptors. By doing so, it reduces the effects of histamine, which is responsible for many allergy symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and watery eyes. This leads to relief from allergic symptoms without as much drowsiness as older antihistamines, although some people may still feel sleepy.
Whether 1 AL syrup is suitable for a child depends on the child’s age, weight, and the exact strength and formulation of the product. Some antihistamine syrups are approved for use in children above a certain age, while others are not. Never give 1 AL syrup to a child without consulting a pediatrician or pharmacist, and always follow the dosing instructions specific to the product prescribed.
People with liver disease should use 1 AL syrup only under medical supervision. Many antihistamines are metabolized in the liver, and impaired liver function can affect how the medicine is processed and eliminated. Your doctor may decide to adjust the dose, increase the interval between doses, or choose an alternative medicine depending on the severity of your liver condition. Do not start or continue 1 AL syrup without informing your doctor about any liver problems.
Caution is required when using 1 AL syrup in patients with kidney impairment, because some antihistamines are eliminated mainly through the kidneys. Reduced kidney function can lead to higher levels of the drug in the blood and increase the risk of side effects such as excessive drowsiness. Your doctor may need to adjust the dose or dosing interval, or may recommend a different treatment. Always inform your healthcare provider about any kidney disease before using this medicine.
Use of 1 AL syrup during pregnancy should be based on a careful risk–benefit assessment by your doctor. Some second-generation antihistamines have more safety data in pregnancy than others, but no medicine should be taken unnecessarily. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, consult your doctor before taking 1 AL syrup. Do not self-medicate during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.
Small amounts of many antihistamines can pass into breast milk. While some may be considered relatively compatible with breastfeeding, they can still potentially cause drowsiness or irritability in the nursing infant. If you are breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor whether 1 AL syrup is appropriate for you, whether a different medicine would be safer, or whether timing doses around feeds could reduce exposure. Do not start or continue the syrup without professional advice.
Although second-generation antihistamines are generally less sedating than older agents, 1 AL syrup can still cause drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, or reduced alertness in some individuals. Until you know how the medicine affects you, avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing tasks that require full concentration. If you feel sleepy, light-headed, or less alert after taking the syrup, do not drive and speak with your doctor about alternative options.
It is advisable to avoid or minimize alcohol consumption while taking 1 AL syrup. Alcohol can increase the sedative effects of antihistamines, leading to more pronounced drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired coordination or judgment. Combining alcohol with this medicine may also increase the risk of accidents, especially when driving or operating machinery. If you have consumed alcohol, be particularly cautious and monitor how you feel.
If you have a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to antihistamines, levocetirizine, cetirizine, or any ingredient commonly used in syrups (such as certain preservatives, flavoring agents, or colorants), inform your doctor before taking 1 AL syrup. Signs of an allergic reaction can include rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing. If any of these occur after taking the syrup, stop the medicine immediately and seek emergency medical care.
Possible side effects of 1 AL syrup may include drowsiness, fatigue, headache, dry mouth, dizziness, or gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea or abdominal pain. Most side effects are mild and temporary, but if they are severe, persistent, or worrying, contact your doctor. Very rarely, serious reactions such as severe skin rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty can occur and require urgent medical attention.
1 AL syrup can interact with other medicines that cause drowsiness, such as certain sleep aids, anti-anxiety medicines, opioid painkillers, or other antihistamines. There may also be interactions with some antidepressants or medicines that affect liver enzymes. Always provide your doctor and pharmacist with a complete list of all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, and herbal supplements you are taking so they can check for potential interactions before you start 1 AL syrup.
