Common: diarrhoea (more likely with this high-strength formulation), nausea, vomiting, and mild stomach upset. A mild skin rash and, in children, nappy-area or oral thrush (fungal infection) can occur.Serious (seek medical attention): signs of an allergic reaction — widespread rash, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or difficulty breathing; severe, watery or bloody diarrhoea (which can occur during or even weeks after treatment and may indicate a serious bowel infection); yellowing of the skin or eyes (rare liver effects); or unusual bruising. Stop the medicine and contact a doctor if these appear.
Shake the bottle well before each dose and measure it with the marked cup or syringe provided — not a kitchen spoon. It is usually given every 12 hours, ideally at the start of a meal or feed to reduce stomach upset and improve absorption. Follow the exact dose and schedule prescribed for the child's weight.
The reconstituted suspension should be kept in the refrigerator (2–8°C), not frozen, and shaken before each use. Any leftover after the course (typically discard after about 7–10 days) should not be reused — check the label/pack for the exact discard time.
Yes. Complete the full prescribed course even if the child feels better sooner. Stopping early can let the infection return and encourages antibiotic resistance.
Mild diarrhoea is a common side effect of this antibiotic and usually settles after the course. Keep the child hydrated. However, if the diarrhoea is severe, watery, or bloody, or comes with fever or stomach cramps, contact the doctor promptly rather than giving anti-diarrhoea medicines on your own.
Do not give it to anyone with a known allergy to penicillins or to a previous reaction to amoxicillin/clavulanate, or with a history of certain liver problems linked to this antibiotic. Tell the doctor about any allergies, kidney or liver problems, or other medicines before starting.
Should display more medical verities.
