About BDOLENIC 4 INJECTION

  • BDOLENIC 4 INJECTION contains the active substance Zoledronic Acid, belonging to a class of medications known as bisphosphonates. This medication is primarily used to manage hypercalcemia (elevated calcium levels) in adult patients caused by tumors. Tumors can disrupt normal bone metabolism, leading to an accelerated release of calcium from the bones into the bloodstream, a condition referred to as tumor-induced hypercalcemia (TIH).
  • Beyond managing hypercalcemia, BDOLENIC 4 INJECTION plays a crucial role in preventing bone complications in adult patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma or bone metastases originating from solid tumors. Bone metastases occur when cancer cells spread from the primary tumor site to the bones. In these instances, it is used as an adjunct to standard cancer therapies.
  • Additionally, BDOLENIC 4 INJECTION is prescribed to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men. Osteoporosis is characterized by weakened and brittle bones, increasing the risk of fractures. It is also effective in treating Paget’s disease, a condition that disrupts the normal bone remodeling process, leading to weakened and deformed bones that are susceptible to pain and fractures. Furthermore, it can be used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in individuals undergoing glucocorticoid (corticosteroid) therapy, as these medications can contribute to bone loss.
  • It is important to avoid this injection if you have known allergies to zoledronic acid, any other bisphosphonates, or any of the other components of the injection. It is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
