How CALCITEZ CAPSULE 10'S Works

• Vitamin D normally needs two activation steps (liver, then kidney) to become calcitriol, the form the body uses. Calcitriol is this ready-made active form. It acts mainly on the intestine, increasing calcium (and phosphate) absorption into the blood, and on bone, helping regulate calcium. It also helps control parathyroid hormone — which is why it works in people whose kidneys can no longer activate ordinary vitamin D.

The most important effect is a rise in blood calcium (hypercalcaemia), especially if extra calcium is taken. Early signs: nausea, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite, dry mouth, excessive thirst, frequent urination, muscle weakness, tiredness. With prolonged high calcium (seek medical attention): bone pain, confusion or drowsiness, irregular heartbeat, and over time kidney stones or kidney damage. Report these promptly.
