Composition
Common: headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, dizziness, and a temporary bluish tinge to vision. Serious (seek medical attention): an erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism); sudden loss of vision or hearing; chest pain during sex (do not take nitrates); or a serious allergic reaction.
Take one tablet about 30–60 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity, on demand — not more than once in 24 hours. A heavy, fatty meal beforehand can delay its effect. It works only with sexual stimulation.
Never take it with nitrate medicines (for chest pain/angina) or 'poppers' — the combination can cause a dangerous, potentially fatal drop in blood pressure. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially alpha-blockers.
No. You should not drink alcohol while taking sildenafil, as it lowers blood pressure further and increases dizziness.
Men with significant heart disease, recent heart attack or stroke, very low/uncontrolled blood pressure, or severe liver or kidney problems should avoid it or use it only under close medical supervision. Not for women or under-18s.
