How COLIMEX DROPS 15 ML Works

• Dicyclomine blocks acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that makes the smooth muscle of the gut contract. It also acts directly on the muscle to relax it. This eases the painful spasms that cause colicky abdominal pain.
• Simethicone is not absorbed. It lowers the surface tension of small gas bubbles in the stomach and intestine, so they combine into larger bubbles that are easier to pass as wind or burping.

Dicyclomine can cause dry mouth, flushing, reduced sweating, blurred vision, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, difficulty passing urine and a fast heartbeat. In young babies, dicyclomine has been followed by serious breathing problems, including pauses in breathing, as well as fits, fainting, floppiness, coma and death. This is why it must not be given under 6 months. Any child who becomes unusually drowsy, floppy, pale or blue, or has breathing difficulty or a fit after the drops needs emergency care. Allergic reactions such as rash, swelling or breathing difficulty also need urgent attention.

• If you miss a dose of Colimex Drops, give it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

• Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Wallace pack. Keep it out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Never give it to a baby under 6 months of age
• Use only the dropper supplied and the exact prescribed amount
• Keep the child cool, since the medicine reduces sweating
• Seek emergency care if the child becomes floppy, drowsy or has breathing difficulty
• See a doctor for fever, vomiting, blood in stools or a swollen tummy
• Keep the bottle out of the reach of children
