While Digene Gel Mint Syrup is generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience side effects. Common side effects can include changes in bowel movements such as constipation or diarrhea, as well as mild stomach discomfort, nausea, or vomiting. Less common side effects might include allergic reactions like skin rash, itching, or swelling. If any of these side effects persist, worsen, or if you experience any severe or unusual reactions, it is advisable to consult your doctor immediately.

Allergies
UnsafeDo not take Digene Gel Mint Syp if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, as it may cause allergic reactions.
Digene Gel Mint Syrup is primarily used to relieve symptoms of acidity, heartburn, indigestion, and gas. It helps neutralize excess stomach acid and reduce bloating.
The main active ingredients in Digene Gel Mint Syrup are Aluminium Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Simethicone. Some formulations may also include Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose.
Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide are antacids that work by neutralizing excess stomach acid, providing quick relief from heartburn and acidity. Simethicone helps break down gas bubbles, reducing bloating and discomfort.
For adults, the usual dosage is 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5-10 ml) after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Shake well before use.
It is generally recommended to consult a doctor before taking Digene Gel Mint Syrup during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as safety data might be limited or specific advice may be needed.
Common side effects can include constipation (due to Aluminium Hydroxide), diarrhea (due to Magnesium Hydroxide), nausea, or chalky taste. These are usually mild and temporary.
It is advisable to consult a pediatrician before giving Digene Gel Mint Syrup to children, as the dosage and suitability need to be determined by a healthcare professional.
Store the syrup at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children. Do not freeze.
Digene Gel is taken as needed for symptom relief. If you miss a dose, simply take it when symptoms appear. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.
Yes, antacids like Digene can interfere with the absorption of certain medications (e.g., some antibiotics like tetracyclines, iron supplements). It's best to take Digene at least 2 hours apart from other medicines, or consult your doctor.
Digene Gel is generally for short-term relief of symptoms. If symptoms persist for more than a few days (e.g., 1-2 weeks) or worsen, consult a doctor as it might indicate a more serious underlying condition.
Digene Gel is available in both sugar-free and regular formulations. The Mint variant usually contains sugar. Always check the product label for specific information regarding sugar content.
While antacid overdose is generally not life-threatening, excessive intake can lead to severe constipation, diarrhea, or electrolyte imbalances. In case of suspected overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
Digene Gel, Gelusil, and other antacids like Eno (powder) work on similar principles to neutralize stomach acid. Digene and Gelusil are liquid/gel forms, offering quick relief. Eno is a fizzy powder. The choice often depends on individual preference and specific active ingredients, though their core function is similar.
Patients with severe kidney impairment should use Digene Gel with caution and only under medical supervision. The accumulation of magnesium and aluminum can be problematic in such cases.
