How DOXT SL TABLET 10'S Works

• Doxycycline binds to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis, which limits bacterial growth. It is a tetracycline antibiotic with activity against susceptible organisms. Lactobacillus is a probiotic bacterium included in the combination; product-specific clinical evidence that it prevents treatment-related gastrointestinal effects was not located.

Doxycycline can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, rash and sensitivity to sunlight. Tetracyclines can irritate the oesophagus and have been associated with oesophagitis or ulcers. Severe allergic reactions, persistent or bloody diarrhoea, severe headache or visual changes need prompt medical attention. Doxycycline can affect developing teeth and bones. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and use in young children require clinician assessment. Antibiotic treatment may also allow non-susceptible organisms, including fungi, to grow. New vaginal or oral thrush, severe diarrhoea or a new infection during treatment should be reported.

• If you miss a dose of DOXT SL Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
