Common side effects of Eslo AT 2.5mg Tablet may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat), flushing (feeling of warmth), ankle swelling (edema), and nausea. Less common side effects can include muscle cramps, indigestion, changes in mood, sleep disturbances, shortness of breath, and skin rash. In rare cases, more serious side effects such as a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), chest pain (angina), or liver problems may occur. Consult your doctor if you experience any persistent or severe side effects.

Respiratory and other special populations
Use with cautionThe beta-blocker component of Eslo AT can potentially worsen bronchospasm in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In such patients, Eslo AT should be used only if clearly indicated and under close medical supervision, or an alternative therapy should be considered.
Eslo AT is used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). In some patients, it may also be prescribed to help prevent or reduce episodes of chest pain (angina) and to lower overall cardiovascular risk when used as part of a broader treatment plan that includes lifestyle modification.
Eslo AT contains S-amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker that relaxes and widens blood vessels, and atenolol, a beta-blocker that slows the heart rate and reduces the force of heart contractions. The combination lowers blood pressure by decreasing vascular resistance and reducing the workload on the heart, which can also help improve oxygen supply to the heart muscle.
Some patients may notice a reduction in blood pressure within a few hours to days of starting Eslo AT, but the full effect can take several weeks of regular use. Blood pressure should be monitored regularly, and any adjustments to therapy should be made only by a healthcare professional based on clinical response and tolerability.
Eslo AT should not be stopped on your own, even if your blood pressure readings are within the target range. Hypertension is usually a long-term condition, and stopping treatment abruptly, particularly the beta-blocker component, can cause rebound high blood pressure, worsening angina, or other serious heart-related problems. Any change in therapy must be done gradually and under medical supervision.
Common side effects may include dizziness, tiredness, slow heart rate, swelling of the ankles or feet, flushing, headache, and mild stomach upset such as nausea. Some people may also experience cold hands or feet or sleep disturbances. Most side effects are mild, but if they are severe, persistent, or worrying, you should contact your doctor.
Eslo AT is generally not recommended for people with severe low blood pressure, significant heart block, severe bradycardia, cardiogenic shock, or uncontrolled heart failure. It may also be unsuitable for individuals with a history of severe asthma or other serious bronchospastic disease, certain conduction abnormalities, or known hypersensitivity to any of its components. A doctor will assess your medical history before prescribing it.
Eslo AT is sometimes used together with other antihypertensive medicines, but this must be carefully managed by a healthcare professional. Combining multiple blood pressure drugs can increase the risk of excessive blood pressure lowering, slow heart rate, or other adverse effects. Always inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking so that potential interactions and additive effects can be assessed.
If you miss a dose of Eslo AT, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects such as excessive lowering of blood pressure or slow heart rate.
Alcohol can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect of Eslo AT and may increase the likelihood of dizziness, light-headedness, or fainting, especially when standing up quickly. If you drink alcohol, it should be in moderation and only after discussing it with your doctor. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel dizzy after consuming alcohol while on this medicine.
Eslo AT can be used in some patients with diabetes, but caution is required. The beta-blocker component, atenolol, may mask certain symptoms of low blood sugar, such as palpitations or tremors, making hypoglycaemia harder to recognize. Blood glucose should be monitored regularly, and your doctor may adjust your diabetes medication if needed. Inform your healthcare provider that you have diabetes before starting Eslo AT.
Yes, peripheral oedema, such as swelling of the ankles or lower legs, can occur due to the vasodilatory effect of the S-amlodipine component. This side effect is usually dose-related and may improve with dose adjustment or supportive measures. If swelling is severe, painful, or associated with shortness of breath or sudden weight gain, seek medical advice promptly.
Regular monitoring typically includes blood pressure and heart rate checks, along with periodic clinical assessment of symptoms such as dizziness, chest pain, or shortness of breath. In some patients, especially those with existing organ impairment or on multiple medicines, kidney function, liver function, and electrolyte levels may be monitored. Your doctor will determine the appropriate schedule based on your overall health and risk profile.
