How FE DAILY TABLET 10'S Works

• Ferrous ascorbate combines iron with ascorbate (a form of vitamin C), which supports iron absorption in the gut. Once absorbed, iron travels to the bone marrow, where it is used to build haemoglobin in new red blood cells, restoring the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
• Folic acid, a B vitamin, is needed for DNA synthesis and cell division, particularly in the rapidly dividing cells of the bone marrow that produce red blood cells. Combining iron with folic acid supports red blood cell formation from more than one direction, which is relevant since deficiency of either can independently cause anaemia.

Nausea, constipation, stomach upset, diarrhoea and dark stools are the most commonly reported effects. A metallic taste, loss of appetite and heartburn have also been reported. A severe allergic reaction is uncommon but needs immediate medical attention if it occurs, including a rash, itching, swelling or difficulty breathing. Symptoms of iron overdose, such as severe abdominal pain, vomiting or dark or bloody stools, need urgent medical attention, particularly if a child has accidentally taken more than the intended amount.

• If you miss a dose of FE DAILY, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children. Do not use the tablets after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Take consistently, since rebuilding iron stores takes several weeks to months
• Space this tablet apart from tea, coffee, dairy products, calcium supplements and antacids, which can reduce iron absorption
• Take with food only if it causes stomach upset, since this can also reduce absorption
• Store safely out of the reach of children, since iron can be seriously harmful in excess
• Expect stools to appear darker than usual; this is a harmless, expected effect
• Seek medical advice for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or unusually dark or bloody stools

• Fe Daily is best taken away from tea, coffee, dairy products and calcium-rich foods, since these can reduce iron absorption. Vitamin-C-rich foods, such as citrus fruit, can help improve absorption.
