FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM belongs to a group of medicines called steroids, also known as corticosteroids. FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM is used to treat various allergic skin conditions such as eczema and atopic dermatitis. FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM effectively reduces symptoms associated with such conditions such as swelling, itching and redness.
FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM works by decreasing the inflammation caused by allergies. It reduces inflammation by blocking the release of certain natural substances that cause allergic symptoms such as swelling, redness and pain.
The time required by FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM to start showing its effects may differ from person to person. Usually, it starts showing relief within 8 hours of starting FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM. It may even take several days before you see maximum benefits. In order to improve your symptoms faster, it is important to take the medicine regularly to gain maximum benefit from the medicine.
No, FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM should never be applied in those areas of the skin that have burns, cuts or scrapes. If FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM accidentally gets onto such areas, rinse the area thoroughly with water. It is advisable that you use this medicine only as directed by your doctor to avoid any adverse effects and worsening of your condition.
Before using FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM, clean and dry the affected area. Gently and thoroughly massage it into the skin. Be careful not to get the medication in your eyes or mouth. If FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM gets in your eyes accidentally, wash with plenty of water and call your doctor if your eyes are irritated.
Be careful not to get FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM into your eyes or mouth. If you happen to get it in your eyes, rinse off with plenty of water immediately and contact your doctor. You must not use FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients. Tell your doctor if you notice any allergic reaction while using it for the first time. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines regularly to prevent any allergic reaction with other medicines. Do not cover the area being treated with FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM with a bandage, as this may increase absorption of this medicine and increase the side effects. Do not use more than what is recommended to relieve your symptoms faster. Using more than what is advised will only increase the side effects. Also, let your doctor know if you are planning to conceive. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should use FLUTIVATE SKIN CREAM 20 GM only if prescribed by the doctor.
Flutivate cream contains fluticasone propionate, a topical corticosteroid used to reduce redness, itching, and inflammation in various inflammatory skin conditions. Doctors commonly prescribe it for eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and some forms of psoriasis, when a steroid cream is considered appropriate. It is not a general moisturizer and should only be used for conditions diagnosed by a healthcare professional.
Use Flutivate cream exactly as directed by your doctor. Typically, the affected area is cleaned and dried, then a thin film of the cream is applied and gently rubbed in until absorbed. It is usually applied once or twice daily, but you should follow the specific instructions given by your prescriber. Do not apply it to large areas, do not cover with airtight dressings unless told to do so, and avoid using it longer than recommended. Wash your hands after application unless your hands are the area being treated.
Flutivate cream should only be used on the face if specifically prescribed by a doctor, because facial skin is thinner and more prone to side effects from topical steroids. Prolonged or inappropriate use on the face can cause skin thinning, visible blood vessels, acne‑like eruptions, or a rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis). If your doctor has advised facial use, follow the instructions carefully, use the smallest effective amount, and do not extend the duration without medical review.
Use of Flutivate cream during pregnancy should be based on a clear recommendation from a healthcare professional. When a topical steroid is needed, doctors generally advise using the lowest effective potency, in the smallest amount, for the shortest possible time, and avoiding large treatment areas or occlusive dressings. Limited systemic absorption is expected when used correctly, but unnecessary or prolonged use should be avoided. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant before starting this medicine.
If you are breastfeeding, use Flutivate cream only on the advice of your doctor. When used on small areas of intact skin, systemic absorption is usually low, but care is needed. Do not apply the cream directly to the nipples or areola, and ensure that the infant’s skin does not come into contact with treated areas. If application near the breast is necessary, it should be minimal, for a short duration, and the area should be gently cleaned before breastfeeding, as advised by your healthcare provider.
Flutivate cream is applied to the skin and is designed to have mainly local effects, with limited systemic absorption when used correctly. However, in people with significant liver or kidney impairment, any absorbed corticosteroid may be cleared more slowly. For this reason, such patients should use the cream strictly as directed, avoid large treatment areas and prolonged use, and be monitored by a doctor. Always inform your healthcare provider about any liver or kidney disease before starting treatment.
There is no direct interaction known between topical fluticasone in Flutivate cream and alcohol when the medicine is used on the skin as directed. However, heavy alcohol use can affect overall health, including the liver and immune system, which may indirectly influence skin healing and susceptibility to infections. It is advisable to drink alcohol in moderation and to follow your doctor’s general health recommendations while using any corticosteroid treatment.
Flutivate cream is applied to the skin and is not expected to impair alertness, coordination, or vision when used as directed. It should not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you experience any unusual symptoms that you think may be related to the medicine, such as severe irritation or an allergic reaction that makes you feel unwell, seek medical advice before driving or performing tasks that require full attention.
Do not use Flutivate cream if you know you are allergic to fluticasone propionate, other corticosteroids, or any of the ingredients in the formulation. Signs of an allergic reaction may include worsening redness, intense itching, burning, swelling, blistering, or a rash at the application site, and rarely, generalized symptoms such as facial swelling or difficulty breathing. If you suspect an allergy, stop using the cream immediately and seek medical help. Inform your doctor about any previous reactions to steroid creams or ointments.
Children may be more sensitive to the effects of topical corticosteroids, including Flutivate cream, because their skin surface area relative to body weight is larger, which can increase absorption. Use in children should be strictly under medical supervision, with the lowest effective strength, small treatment areas, and short treatment courses. Occlusive dressings such as tight diapers or plastic pants can increase absorption and should generally be avoided unless a pediatric specialist specifically recommends them.
Commonly reported local side effects include burning, stinging, itching, dryness, or irritation at the application site, especially when treatment is first started. With longer‑term or inappropriate use, skin thinning, stretch marks, easy bruising, visible small blood vessels, changes in skin color, or acne‑like eruptions may occur. If you notice signs of infection such as increased redness, pus, or warmth, or if your condition worsens, contact your doctor. Systemic side effects are uncommon when the cream is used correctly on limited areas for short periods.
