General usage and infection-related precautions
Use under medical supervisionUse Fusiwal B Cream only for conditions diagnosed by a healthcare professional as appropriate for this antibiotic–corticosteroid combination.
Fusiwal B Cream is a topical combination medicine used on the skin. It contains fusidic acid 2% w/w, an antibiotic that treats certain bacterial skin infections, and beclometasone dipropionate 0.025% w/w, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching. It is intended for external use only and should be used under medical supervision.
Fusiwal B Cream is generally used to treat inflammatory skin conditions that are infected or at high risk of bacterial infection, such as infected eczema or dermatitis caused or complicated by susceptible bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus species. It is not appropriate for purely fungal, viral, or non‑infective skin conditions, and should only be used for indications recommended by a healthcare professional.
Apply a thin layer of Fusiwal B Cream to the affected area of clean, dry skin, as directed by your doctor. Gently rub it in until it is absorbed. Avoid applying it to large areas, broken skin, or under occlusive dressings unless specifically advised. Do not apply it to the eyes, inside the nose or mouth, or on mucous membranes. Wash your hands after use unless your hands are the treated area. Always follow the instructions given by your prescriber and the package leaflet; do not change the frequency or duration of use on your own.
Use of Fusiwal B Cream on the face should be limited and only under direct medical supervision. Facial skin is thin and more prone to corticosteroid‑related side effects such as skin thinning, visible small blood vessels, and perioral dermatitis. If your doctor prescribes it for facial use, it is usually for a short duration and on small areas only. Avoid contact with the eyes and eyelids, and do not use it for acne, rosacea, or long‑term cosmetic purposes.
Possible side effects include local reactions such as burning, stinging, itching, dryness, redness, or irritation at the application site. With prolonged or inappropriate use, there may be skin thinning, stretch marks, changes in skin color, easy bruising, or visible small blood vessels. Allergic contact dermatitis or worsening of infection can occur. Very extensive or long‑term use, especially under occlusion or on damaged skin, may rarely lead to systemic corticosteroid effects. If you notice severe irritation, spreading redness, pus, or no improvement, stop using the cream and consult your doctor.
Use of Fusiwal B Cream during pregnancy should be based on a clear clinical need and under the supervision of a doctor. Topical fusidic acid and beclometasone are generally expected to have low systemic absorption when used correctly on limited areas for short periods. However, unnecessary or prolonged use, use on large areas, or under occlusive dressings should be avoided. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, inform your doctor before starting this medicine so that the potential benefits and risks can be assessed.
Fusiwal B Cream may be used with caution during breastfeeding if prescribed by a doctor. It should not be applied to the breasts or any area that may come into direct contact with the infant’s mouth or skin. Systemic absorption is usually low when used appropriately, but prolonged or extensive use should be avoided. If you are breastfeeding, discuss with your healthcare provider before using this cream, and follow their instructions carefully.
Use of Fusiwal B Cream in children should be strictly supervised by a pediatrician or dermatologist. Children have a higher surface area‑to‑body‑weight ratio and thinner skin, which increases the risk of systemic absorption of corticosteroids and related side effects. If prescribed for a child, it is usually for a short duration, on limited areas, and without occlusive dressings unless specifically advised. Do not use this medicine on children without medical guidance.
No, Fusiwal B Cream is not suitable for fungal or viral skin infections. Fusidic acid is active mainly against certain Gram‑positive bacteria and does not treat fungi or viruses. The corticosteroid component can suppress local immunity and may worsen untreated fungal or viral conditions such as ringworm, candidiasis, herpes simplex, or chickenpox. If you suspect a fungal or viral infection, consult your doctor for an appropriate diagnosis and treatment rather than using this cream.
Use Fusiwal B Cream only as prescribed and for the duration recommended by your doctor. Do not apply it to large areas, broken skin, or under occlusive dressings unless instructed. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Do not use it for acne, rosacea, or long‑term cosmetic purposes. Inform your doctor about any history of skin allergies, chronic infections, or other medical conditions, as well as all other medicines or topical products you are using. If symptoms worsen or do not improve within the expected time, seek medical advice.
Fusiwal B Cream is applied to the skin and is not expected to have direct effects on the central nervous system. It does not usually affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, and there is no well‑established interaction with moderate alcohol consumption when used as directed. However, if you experience any unexpected systemic symptoms or feel unwell, avoid driving and consult your doctor.
