If you use the prefilled syringe, allow the medicine to warm for 30 minutes at room temperature before injecting. Read the package insert carefully if you are self-administering the medicine. This medicine may cause lung, liver, or kidney problems. Your physician may advise you to take laboratory tests regularly to monitor the effectiveness of the therapy.
The active ingredient is FILGRASTIM.
GRAFEEL 300MCG INJECTION PFS is used to treat conditions related to Anti Cancer therapy.
GRAFEEL 300MCG INJECTION PFS helps stimulate the production of white blood cells, which can be reduced by Anti Cancer treatments, thereby reducing the risk of infections.
Grafeel 300 mcg contains filgrastim, a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G‑CSF) used to increase white blood cells, especially neutrophils. It is mainly prescribed to patients receiving chemotherapy that can cause neutropenia, to reduce the risk and duration of infections. It may also be used in certain cases of severe chronic neutropenia, in patients undergoing bone marrow or stem cell transplantation, or in other conditions associated with low neutrophil counts, as decided by a specialist.
Grafeel 300 mcg is usually given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneous) or sometimes into a vein (intravenous). It is administered by a healthcare professional or by the patient or caregiver who has been properly trained. The exact dose, frequency, and duration of treatment are individualized based on body weight, type of chemotherapy or underlying condition, and blood test results. You should never adjust the dose or schedule yourself; always follow your doctor’s instructions.
Common side effects of Grafeel 300 mcg include bone pain, muscle or joint pain, headache, fatigue, and injection site reactions such as redness, swelling, or discomfort. Some people may experience mild fever or general body aches. These side effects are often manageable and may improve with time or with simple pain relief measures recommended by your doctor. However, if side effects are severe, persistent, or worrying, you should contact your healthcare provider.
Grafeel 300 mcg is not primarily known for causing major liver damage in most patients, but mild, temporary changes in liver enzymes have been reported with filgrastim in some cases. If you already have liver disease or abnormal liver tests, your doctor will consider this when deciding on treatment and may monitor your liver function more closely. Always inform your doctor about any history of liver problems and report symptoms such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or severe abdominal pain.
Grafeel 300 mcg can be used in patients with kidney problems, but caution and close monitoring may be required. Filgrastim is not primarily eliminated through the kidneys in a way that usually requires routine dose adjustment, but underlying kidney disease can make patients more vulnerable to fluid balance issues or other complications. Your doctor will review your kidney function tests and overall health before and during treatment and will decide the most appropriate regimen for you.
Use of Grafeel 300 mcg during pregnancy is not routinely recommended unless clearly needed. There is limited human data on its safety in pregnant women. Your doctor will weigh the potential benefits of preventing severe neutropenia and infection against any possible risks to the unborn baby. If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, you must discuss this with your doctor before starting or continuing Grafeel 300 mcg.
It is not fully known whether filgrastim from Grafeel 300 mcg passes into breast milk or affects a nursing infant. Because of the limited data, your doctor will carefully consider the need for treatment against the potential risk to the baby. In some situations, your doctor may advise either discontinuing breastfeeding or using an alternative treatment. Do not start or stop breastfeeding while on Grafeel 300 mcg without medical advice.
Grafeel 300 mcg is not known to directly impair the ability to drive or use machines in most people. However, some patients may experience side effects such as fatigue, dizziness, or headache, which can affect concentration and reaction time. If you feel tired, dizzy, or generally unwell after receiving Grafeel 300 mcg, avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing tasks that require full alertness until you feel better.
There is no well-established direct interaction between Grafeel 300 mcg and moderate alcohol intake. However, alcohol can weaken the immune system, irritate the stomach and liver, and may worsen fatigue, which is not desirable in patients already at risk of infection or undergoing chemotherapy. It is generally advisable to limit or avoid alcohol while receiving Grafeel 300 mcg, especially if you have liver problems or are on other medicines. Always follow your doctor’s specific advice regarding alcohol.
If you have a history of allergy to filgrastim, other G‑CSF products, or any component of Grafeel 300 mcg, you must inform your doctor before treatment. Signs of an allergic reaction can include rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe dizziness. If any of these occur after an injection, seek emergency medical help immediately. Your doctor may decide not to use Grafeel 300 mcg or may monitor you very closely during and after administration if there is concern about hypersensitivity.
Yes. While many people tolerate Grafeel 300 mcg well, you should seek urgent medical attention if you develop sudden left upper abdominal pain or pain at the tip of the left shoulder (which may suggest spleen enlargement or rupture), difficulty breathing, chest pain, rapid weight gain, swelling of the face or legs, severe or persistent fever, or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as widespread rash, wheezing, or trouble breathing. These may indicate rare but serious complications that require immediate evaluation.
