The active molecule is FILGRASTIM.
It is used in the treatment of Anti Cancer conditions.
Neukine 300 mcg Injection is used to boost white blood cell production in patients undergoing chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, or those with neutropenia caused by certain diseases.
Common side effects include bone pain, fatigue, nausea, and redness at the injection site. Rarely, it may cause spleen enlargement or breathing difficulty.
Neukine 300 mcg Injection is given subcutaneously (under the skin) or intravenously (into a vein), as directed by a healthcare professional.
Neukine 300 mcg Injection is used to increase white blood cell (neutrophil) counts in people at risk of neutropenia or infection. It is commonly given to patients receiving chemotherapy, those undergoing bone marrow or stem cell transplantation, people with severe chronic neutropenia, certain patients with HIV-related neutropenia, and individuals exposed to high doses of radiation. By boosting neutrophil production, it helps reduce the risk and duration of infections.
Neukine 300 mcg Injection contains filgrastim, a man‑made form of granulocyte colony‑stimulating factor (G‑CSF). G‑CSF is a natural substance produced by the body that stimulates the bone marrow to make more neutrophils, a type of white blood cell. Filgrastim binds to specific receptors on bone marrow cells, promoting the growth, maturation, and release of neutrophils into the bloodstream, thereby improving your ability to fight infections.
The timing of Neukine 300 mcg Injection in relation to chemotherapy is decided by your oncologist. It is generally started after chemotherapy, not on the same day, to avoid interference with chemotherapy’s action on rapidly dividing cells. The exact start time and duration depend on the chemotherapy regimen, your blood counts, and your overall clinical condition. You should follow the schedule provided by your treating doctor and not change it on your own.
Use of Neukine 300 mcg Injection during pregnancy is not routinely recommended unless clearly needed. There is limited human data on its safety in pregnant women. Animal studies have shown some effects on the fetus at high doses, so it is used only when the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the possible risk to the unborn baby. If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to conceive, you must inform your doctor before starting this medicine so that risks and benefits can be carefully assessed.
It is not known with certainty whether filgrastim, the active ingredient in Neukine 300 mcg Injection, passes into human breast milk or affects a nursing infant. Because of the lack of adequate data, caution is advised. Your doctor may recommend either discontinuing breastfeeding or avoiding the medicine, depending on how essential the treatment is for you. Discuss your breastfeeding plans with your doctor so that an informed decision can be made.
Neukine 300 mcg Injection is not known to directly impair the ability to drive or use machines. However, some people may experience side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, or headache, which can affect concentration and reaction time. If you feel unwell, unusually tired, or dizzy after receiving the injection, avoid driving, cycling, or operating heavy machinery until you feel normal and have discussed your symptoms with your doctor.
Filgrastim is not primarily cleared through the kidneys, and no major dose adjustments are usually required in mild to moderate kidney impairment. However, patients with kidney disease may be more vulnerable to complications and are often on multiple medicines. Your doctor will monitor your blood counts, kidney function, and overall condition closely while you are on Neukine 300 mcg Injection. Always inform your doctor about any existing kidney problems before starting treatment.
There is limited information on the use of filgrastim in patients with significant liver disease. In general, no standard dose adjustment is routinely recommended for mild liver impairment, but careful monitoring is advised. If you have chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, hepatitis, or abnormal liver tests, you should inform your doctor. Your doctor will weigh the potential benefits against the risks and may monitor your liver function and blood counts more frequently during treatment.
There is no direct, well‑documented interaction between filgrastim and alcohol. However, alcohol can weaken the immune system, irritate the stomach and liver, and may worsen fatigue, which is already common in people undergoing chemotherapy or serious illness. Because Neukine 300 mcg Injection is usually given to patients who are already medically fragile, it is generally advisable to limit or avoid alcohol. You should ask your doctor for personalized advice based on your overall health and treatment plan.
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to filgrastim, other G‑CSF products, or any component of Neukine 300 mcg Injection, you must inform your doctor before receiving it. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or a sudden drop in blood pressure. If any of these occur after an injection, seek emergency medical help immediately. Your doctor may decide not to use this medicine again and will choose an alternative treatment if necessary.
