How HUMAN ALBUMIN 20% INJECTION BSV 100 ML Works

• Albumin holds fluid within the blood vessels by generating colloid osmotic (oncotic) pressure. When albumin is low or blood volume is depleted, fluid leaks out of the blood vessels into the surrounding tissues.
• Infusing concentrated 20% albumin raises this oncotic pressure and draws fluid from the tissues back into the blood vessels, expanding blood volume and helping to stabilise the circulation.

Flushing, hives, fever, chills, headache and nausea are the most commonly reported effects during the infusion, watched for by the treating team. A rise or fall in blood pressure has also been reported. Fluid overload, causing breathlessness, headache or rising blood pressure, needs prompt medical attention, especially in people with heart or kidney problems. A severe allergic reaction is rare but needs immediate medical attention.

• Report any feeling of breathlessness, flushing, chills or fever promptly during the infusion
