How HUMAN ALBUMIN 20% INJECTION KEDRION 100 ML Works

• Albumin holds fluid within the blood vessels by generating colloid osmotic (oncotic) pressure. When albumin is low or blood volume is depleted, fluid leaks into the tissues. Infusing concentrated 20% albumin raises this pressure and pulls fluid from the tissues back into the blood vessels, expanding blood volume and stabilising the circulation.

Infusion-related effects, watched for by the medical team: flushing, hives, fever, chills, headache, nausea, and a rise or fall in blood pressure. Serious (managed by the team): fluid overload (breathlessness, headache, rising blood pressure), especially with heart or kidney problems; and, rarely, severe allergic reactions. As a plasma product, there is a very small theoretical risk of infection transmission, minimised by donor screening and processing.
