Huminsulin N is an intermediate-acting human insulin. It is used to improve blood sugar control in adults and children with diabetes mellitus.
Unopened vials should be stored in the refrigerator (2°C - 8°C). Do not freeze. Once in use, the vial can be kept at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 28 days. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight.
Common side effects include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), injection site reactions (redness, swelling, itching), and lipodystrophy (changes in fat tissue under the skin).
It is important to discuss the use of Huminsulin N with your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Insulin requirements may change during pregnancy.
If you experience symptoms of hypoglycemia (sweating, shaking, confusion, hunger), consume a fast-acting carbohydrate source like glucose tablets, fruit juice, or hard candy. Check your blood sugar and repeat if necessary. Consult your doctor for adjustments to your insulin dosage.
Huminsulin N is an intermediate-acting insulin, while Humulin R is a short-acting insulin. Huminsulin N has a slower onset and longer duration of action compared to Humulin R.
The dosage of Huminsulin N is individualized and determined by your doctor based on your blood sugar levels, diet, and activity level. It is crucial to follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
Consult your doctor before mixing Huminsulin N with other insulins. Some insulins are compatible for mixing, while others are not. Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding insulin mixing.
Consult your doctor for instructions on what to do if you miss a dose of Huminsulin N. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Insulin, including Huminsulin N, can sometimes lead to weight gain. This is often related to improved blood sugar control and the body storing more glucose. Discuss any concerns about weight gain with your doctor.
Yes, certain medications can interact with Huminsulin N, affecting blood sugar levels. These include corticosteroids, beta-blockers, and some oral diabetes medications. Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
Dispose of used needles and syringes in a puncture-resistant container (sharps container). Do not throw them in the regular trash. Follow local regulations for proper disposal.
Yes, exercise can affect blood sugar levels and insulin requirements. You may need to adjust your Huminsulin N dosage or carbohydrate intake when exercising. Discuss this with your doctor.
Do not use Huminsulin N if it changes color, becomes cloudy, or contains particles. Use a new vial of Huminsulin N and consult your pharmacist.
While the term 'generic' might not be directly applicable to biosimilar insulins in the same way as small-molecule drugs, discuss alternative insulin options with your doctor or pharmacist, as there might be other brands or biosimilars available.
