Lactifiber Granules are generally well-tolerated, but some individuals may experience the following side effects: * **Common Side Effects:** * Bloating * Gas * Abdominal discomfort or cramping * Increased bowel movements * **Uncommon Side Effects:** * Nausea * Diarrhea (especially if taken in excessive amounts) * Constipation (if not taken with enough water) * Allergic reactions (rare, but possible)

Gastrointestinal conditions
Use with caution or avoidLactifiber is intended for functional constipation and should not be used in patients with suspected or confirmed intestinal obstruction, perforation, or severe inflammatory bowel disease in an active flare, unless specifically advised by a specialist.
Lactifiber Granules are a fiber supplement used to treat constipation and irregular bowel movements. It helps to soften stools and improve digestion.
The main ingredients in Lactifiber Granules are Isabgol husk (psyllium husk) and Lactulose.
Isabgol husk adds bulk to the stool, while Lactulose softens the stool, making it easier to pass.
The recommended dosage is usually one to two teaspoons mixed with a glass of water, once or twice a day. Follow your doctor's advice.
Some common side effects include bloating, abdominal cramps, and gas. Consult a doctor if side effects persist.
Pregnant women should consult a doctor before taking Lactifiber Granules.
It is important to consult a pediatrician before giving Lactifiber Granules to children.
Lactifiber Granules may affect the absorption of other medications. Maintain a gap of a few hours before or after taking other medications to avoid any potential interactions.
Store Lactifiber Granules at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Lactifiber Granules usually take 12 to 24 hours to show effect.
It is advisable to consult a doctor before using Lactifiber Granules for a long time.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.
The fiber content in Lactifiber Granules can help control appetite and promote a feeling of fullness, potentially aiding in weight loss.
Diabetic patients should consult their doctor before taking Lactifiber Granules, as it may affect blood sugar levels.
Yes, there are many other fiber supplements and laxatives available. Consult your doctor to determine which alternative is best for you.
Lactifiber is a branded laxative preparation that usually combines lactulose, an osmotic laxative, with a bulk-forming fiber such as ispaghula husk (psyllium) or similar fiber. It is used to relieve constipation and to promote regular, soft bowel movements. It may be recommended in chronic functional constipation, constipation related to low-fiber diet, or when soft stools are clinically desirable, such as in some patients with hemorrhoids or after certain anorectal procedures, as directed by a healthcare professional.
Lactifiber works through two complementary mechanisms. Lactulose draws water into the intestinal lumen, softening the stool and increasing its volume, which stimulates bowel movements. The fiber component absorbs water, swells, and increases stool bulk, improving stool consistency and promoting peristalsis. Together, these actions help normalize stool form and frequency. The effect is gradual and may take one or more days to become noticeable.
The onset of action of Lactifiber is not immediate. Lactulose typically requires 24 to 48 hours to produce a laxative effect, and the fiber component may also take time to influence stool bulk and consistency. Some individuals may notice improvement within a day, while others may require several days of regular use. If there is no improvement after a few days, or if symptoms worsen, medical advice should be sought rather than increasing the dose on your own.
Lactifiber may be used for short- or medium-term management of constipation under medical supervision. However, long-term daily use of any laxative without medical review is not recommended. Persistent or recurrent constipation may indicate an underlying condition that requires evaluation. If you need Lactifiber regularly for more than a short period, consult your doctor to reassess your bowel regimen, diet, fluid intake, physical activity, and to rule out other causes.
Common side effects of Lactifiber are usually gastrointestinal and may include bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort or cramping, and sometimes loose stools or mild diarrhea. These effects are often more pronounced at the start of therapy and may lessen as your body adapts. If you experience severe abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, vomiting, or signs of dehydration such as dizziness or reduced urination, stop using the product and seek medical attention.
Lactifiber should generally be avoided in individuals with known hypersensitivity to lactulose, ispaghula husk, or any excipients in the formulation; in patients with intestinal obstruction, suspected or confirmed; in those with galactosemia or certain hereditary problems of fructose or galactose intolerance, depending on the exact formulation; and in patients with acute surgical abdomen or severe undiagnosed abdominal pain. People with inflammatory bowel disease in an active flare, severe dehydration, or significant electrolyte disturbances should only use it under specialist guidance.
Lactulose is a synthetic sugar, and although its systemic absorption is limited, it can contribute a small amount of absorbable sugars. Therefore, people with diabetes should use Lactifiber cautiously and only on the advice of their doctor. Blood glucose should be monitored as recommended, and any unexpected changes in glycemic control should be discussed with a healthcare professional. Sugar-free or alternative preparations may be considered in some patients.
Lactifiber can interact with the absorption of some orally administered medicines because the fiber component may delay or reduce their uptake, and changes in bowel transit time can alter drug exposure. It is generally advisable to separate Lactifiber from other oral medications by an interval, often at least one to two hours, unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise. Certain drugs, such as those with a narrow therapeutic index, may require particular caution. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
For optimal benefit, Lactifiber should be combined with general constipation management measures. These include adequate daily fluid intake unless contraindicated, a balanced diet rich in natural fiber from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and regular physical activity appropriate to your health status. Establishing a regular toilet routine and not ignoring the urge to defecate can also help. These measures may reduce the need for laxatives over time and support more sustainable bowel regularity.
If you miss a scheduled dose of Lactifiber, you can take it when you remember, unless it is almost time for the next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one. Accidental intake of more than the recommended amount may lead to abdominal cramps, excessive gas, and diarrhea, which can cause fluid and electrolyte loss. If significant overdose is suspected, especially in vulnerable individuals such as children, older adults, or those with chronic illness, seek medical advice promptly.
Lactifiber, which combines an osmotic laxative and bulk-forming fiber, is generally considered less likely to cause dependence than stimulant laxatives when used appropriately. However, prolonged unsupervised use of any laxative can potentially alter bowel habits and mask underlying disease. The goal of therapy should be to restore and maintain normal bowel function with the lowest effective support, emphasizing diet, fluids, and activity. Regular review with a healthcare professional is advisable if ongoing use is needed.
