Noxa Cream contains ozenoxacin 1% w/w and is primarily used for the topical treatment of certain superficial bacterial skin infections, especially impetigo caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. It should be used only when prescribed by a healthcare professional for a confirmed or strongly suspected bacterial skin infection.
Yes. Noxa Cream contains ozenoxacin, which is a topical quinolone antibacterial agent. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, thereby stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria on the skin. It is not effective against viral or fungal infections.
No. Noxa Cream should not be used for all types of rashes. It is indicated for specific bacterial skin infections such as impetigo. It is not appropriate for viral rashes, fungal infections, eczema flares, or allergic rashes unless a doctor has confirmed a bacterial component and specifically recommended this medicine.
The method and frequency of application should be based on your doctor’s instructions and the product’s package insert. In general, the affected area is gently cleaned and dried, and a thin layer of cream is applied to the involved skin, avoiding the eyes, mouth, and inside of the nose. Do not cover with tight dressings unless your doctor advises. Do not exceed the prescribed duration or frequency of use.
Many patients notice improvement in symptoms such as redness, crusting, or discomfort within a few days of starting treatment. However, the total duration of therapy and expected time to full resolution depend on the severity of the infection and individual response. You should continue using the cream for the full course recommended by your doctor, and seek medical review if there is no improvement or if the infection worsens.
Noxa Cream may be used on facial skin if prescribed by a doctor, for example in cases of facial impetigo. However, it must not be applied in or directly around the eyes, and contact with the eyes should be strictly avoided. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
Ozenoxacin-containing creams such as Noxa Cream are often used in children for impetigo, but age limits and dosing recommendations can vary by country and product labeling. Safety and appropriate use in infants or very young children should be confirmed with a pediatrician. Parents should never use this medicine on children without medical advice.
Most people tolerate Noxa Cream well. Possible side effects are usually mild and localized, such as burning, stinging, itching, redness, or dryness at the application site. These are often temporary. Rarely, more significant irritation or an allergic reaction can occur, with symptoms such as widespread rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing. In such cases, stop using the cream and seek urgent medical care.
Data on the use of topical ozenoxacin in pregnancy and breastfeeding are limited. Because systemic absorption from intact skin is expected to be low, risk is likely to be low, but it cannot be completely excluded. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should only occur if clearly needed and after discussion with a healthcare professional. Avoid applying on or near the nipples if breastfeeding, to prevent accidental ingestion by the infant.
If you forget to apply a scheduled dose, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for the next application. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply extra cream to make up for a missed application, as this does not improve effectiveness and may increase the risk of local irritation.
You should follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dressings. In many cases of impetigo, a light, non-occlusive dressing may be used to protect the area and reduce spread, but tight or occlusive dressings that significantly increase absorption or moisture should generally be avoided unless specifically recommended by a healthcare professional.
Because Noxa Cream is applied to the skin and systemic absorption is expected to be minimal, clinically significant interactions with oral or injectable medicines are unlikely. However, using multiple topical products on the same area may increase irritation or affect how well each product works. Inform your doctor about all other creams, ointments, or gels you are using on the affected skin so they can advise on appropriate spacing or alternative treatments.
