About TASIGNA 200MG CAPSULE 4'S

  • TASIGNA 200MG CAPSULE 4'S is a medicine used to treat a type of blood cancer called Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph-positive CML). It contains the active ingredient Nilotinib and belongs to a group of medicines known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors. This medicine helps control the abnormal production of white blood cells in CML. It is prescribed for both adults and children who are newly diagnosed with CML, as well as those who have had side effects from or did not respond well to previous treatments, including Imatinib.
  • Do not take TASIGNA 200MG CAPSULE 4'S if you are allergic to Nilotinib or any of its other ingredients. It is very important to tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had heart problems (like a heart attack, abnormal heart rhythm, or chest pain), a stroke, or problems with blood flow in your legs (claudication). Also inform your doctor if you have liver or pancreas problems, or low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood. You must tell your doctor about all medicines you take, particularly those for lowering cholesterol, as well as any other prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, or herbal products.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had a hepatitis B infection, as this medicine can cause it to become active again, which can be serious. Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medicine. TASIGNA 200MG CAPSULE 4'S should NOT be taken with food. Take it at least 2 hours after a meal and wait at least 1 hour before eating your next meal or snack. Tell your doctor if you are intolerant to certain sugars like lactose, as this medicine contains it. Common side effects may include nausea, rash, headache, fatigue, or diarrhea. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor.
  • During your treatment, your doctor will perform regular tests. These may include blood tests to check your liver and pancreas function, and the number of your blood cells (white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets). They will also monitor your heart condition (checking for prolonged QT interval), levels of electrolytes (like potassium and magnesium), and levels of sugar and fats to see how well you are tolerating TASIGNA 200MG CAPSULE 4'S.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, inform your doctor. It is crucial to use effective birth control during treatment with this medicine and for a period after stopping, as it can harm an unborn baby. Do not share this medication with others. Always take TASIGNA 200MG CAPSULE 4'S exactly as prescribed. If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose; skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Discuss any missed doses or concerns with your doctor.
