How TOSSEX DMR SYRUP 100 ML Works

• Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that acts on the cough centre in the brain, raising the threshold needed to trigger the cough reflex. This is particularly useful for dry, hacking coughs that do not produce mucus.
• Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that blocks the action of histamine, the substance responsible for allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes. By reducing these allergic triggers, it can further ease an allergy-related cough, and its mild sedative effect can help promote rest. Together, the two ingredients suppress the cough reflex and calm allergic symptoms that contribute to it.

Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention, and dizziness, largely from the chlorpheniramine component, along with dizziness, nausea, and stomach upset. Difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat needs immediate medical attention, as it may indicate a severe allergic reaction.
