Like all medicines, ZITA PIO 20/15MG TABLET can cause side effects, though not everybody gets them. It's important to be aware of both common and less common but serious side effects. **Common Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):** * **Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar):** Especially if taken with other diabetes medicines. Symptoms include dizziness, sweating, shaking, confusion, hunger. * **Fluid Retention/Edema:** Swelling, particularly in the ankles or feet, leading to weight gain. * **Weight Gain:** Due to fluid retention or other factors. * **Headache:** Mild to moderate. * **Upper Respiratory Tract Infections:** Such as the common cold, stuffy or runny nose, sore throat. * **Nausea/Vomiting:** Feeling sick to your stomach. * **Diarrhea:** Loose stools. * **Muscle Pain (Myalgia):** Aches or discomfort in muscles. **Less Common or Serious Side Effects (seek medical attention immediately if you experience these):** * **Heart Failure:** Symptoms include unusual tiredness, shortness of breath, sudden weight gain, and swelling in your legs or feet. This risk is higher if you already have heart problems. * **Bone Fractures:** Increased risk of fractures, especially in women, affecting arms, hands, feet, or spine. * **Vision Changes (Macular Edema):** Blurred vision or other changes in your eyesight. * **Pancreatitis:** Severe and persistent stomach pain that may radiate to your back, with or without vomiting. This is a serious condition. * **Severe Allergic Reactions:** Rash, hives, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat that may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing. * **Liver Problems:** Symptoms like yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes (jaundice), dark urine, persistent nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain. Report any blood in your urine, painful urination, or new/worsening urge to urinate immediately.

Allergies
UnsafeDo not take this medication if you are allergic to Sitagliptin, Pioglitazone, or any other ingredients.
ZITA PIO 20/15MG Tablet is used to treat Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults. It helps to control high blood sugar levels when diet and exercise alone are not enough.
The active ingredients are Sitagliptin (20mg) and Pioglitazone (15mg). Sitagliptin belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor class, and Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione (TZD).
Sitagliptin works by increasing the levels of natural substances called incretins, which help control blood sugar by increasing insulin release and decreasing sugar production by the liver. Pioglitazone works by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin, allowing cells to absorb more sugar from the blood.
The dosage is typically once daily, as prescribed by your doctor. It's crucial to follow your doctor's instructions precisely.
ZITA PIO can be taken with or without food. However, taking it at the same time each day is recommended for better consistency.
Common side effects may include upper respiratory tract infection, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and mild swelling (edema). Consult your doctor if these persist or worsen.
Serious side effects can include heart failure (especially with Pioglitazone), bone fractures, liver problems, bladder cancer (rare, long-term use of Pioglitazone), and severe allergic reactions. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe symptoms.
Yes, Pioglitazone, one of the components of ZITA PIO, can sometimes cause weight gain, primarily due to fluid retention.
It should not be taken by patients with Type 1 Diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe heart failure, active bladder cancer, severe liver disease, or a history of allergic reactions to sitagliptin or pioglitazone.
ZITA PIO is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Always consult your doctor before taking any medication if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Store ZITA PIO at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Yes, it can interact with certain medications, including gemfibrozil (for high cholesterol), rifampin (antibiotic), and other diabetes medications. Always inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you are taking.
No, ZITA PIO helps manage Type 2 Diabetes by controlling blood sugar levels, but it is not a cure. It is an ongoing treatment, and lifestyle modifications (diet, exercise) are also crucial.
Yes, several pharmaceutical companies manufacture medicines containing Sitagliptin and Pioglitazone in combination, often under different brand names. The specific strengths and availability may vary by region and manufacturer. Your doctor can guide you on suitable alternatives if needed.
ZITA PIO should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment, and it is contraindicated in severe liver disease. Your doctor will assess your kidney and liver function before prescribing this medication and monitor it during treatment.
