It is prescribed for adult patients to manage multiple myeloma, mantle cell lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, and follicular lymphoma. Multiple myeloma is a cancer affecting plasma cells, which proliferate in the bone marrow, leading to uncontrolled cell division. While a complete cure isn't possible, symptoms can be effectively managed. Myelodysplastic Syndrome encompasses various blood and bone marrow disorders characterized by abnormal and dysfunctional blood cells. Mantle cell lymphoma is a less prevalent cancer affecting the lymph nodes, and follicular lymphoma is a slow-progressing cancer impacting B cells.
This medication works by modulating the immune system and targeting cancerous cells. In multiple myeloma, it helps to prevent the growth and spread of myeloma cells, while in myelodysplastic syndromes, it can improve blood cell counts.
