Allergies
Do not use if allergicDo not use Acnetoin gel if you are known to be allergic to any of its ingredients; check the full ingredient list on the pack or with your pharmacist.
This is not a spot treatment and should not be used to treat a single pimple. Apply it to the entire face. Use it once daily to help treat acne.
It may take up to 2-3 weeks for symptoms to improve. Acnetoin Gel can take some time to achieve significant results.
No, don't use Acnetoin Gel too often. It can lead to over-absorption of drugs in the body and severe diarrhoea. Consult your doctor for reassessment if your symptoms become more severe.
Acnetoin gel is used on the skin to help treat acne, including pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and associated redness or inflammation. It helps keep pores clear, reduces excess oil and may decrease acne-causing bacteria, leading to fewer breakouts over time.
Wash your face gently with a mild cleanser and pat dry. Apply a thin layer of Acnetoin gel only on the affected areas of the skin, as advised by your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes, inside the nose or mouth, and broken or irritated skin. Do not use more often than prescribed.
Safety of Acnetoin gel in pregnancy depends on its exact active ingredient and strength. Some anti-acne gels are not recommended in pregnancy. Do not start or continue Acnetoin gel if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy without consulting your doctor. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and potential risks and may suggest safer alternatives if needed.
During breastfeeding, topical acne medicines are usually considered lower risk when used on small areas and away from the breast. However, safety depends on the specific ingredient in Acnetoin gel. Always consult your doctor before use. Do not apply the gel on or near the nipple or areas that may come in direct contact with the baby, and wash hands after application.
Acnetoin gel is applied on the skin and generally does not interact directly with alcohol. However, excessive alcohol intake can worsen overall skin health and may aggravate acne in some people. If you have liver problems or take other medicines that interact with alcohol, discuss alcohol use with your doctor.
Because Acnetoin gel is used on the skin, only a small amount is usually absorbed into the body. In most cases it can be used in people with liver disease, but caution is still advised. If you have any liver condition or take liver‑acting medicines, inform your doctor so they can decide if Acnetoin gel is appropriate for you and monitor if needed.
Topical gels like Acnetoin are usually safe in kidney disease because systemic absorption is low. However, if you have moderate to severe kidney problems or are on multiple medicines, you should inform your doctor before using it. Your doctor will assess your overall condition and advise whether any special precautions are needed.
Acnetoin gel acts locally on the skin and does not usually affect alertness, vision or coordination. It is generally safe to drive or operate machinery after applying it. If you experience unexpected side effects such as severe irritation, eye discomfort (after accidental contact) or dizziness from any associated medicine, avoid driving and consult your doctor.
If you have a history of allergy to any acne medicines, cosmetics or preservatives, show the full ingredient list of Acnetoin gel to your doctor before use. Stop using the gel immediately and seek medical help if you develop symptoms of allergy such as intense redness, swelling, blistering, severe burning, rash, itching, or difficulty breathing. Never re‑apply the product after a suspected allergic reaction unless your doctor clearly advises it.
Using multiple acne products together can increase dryness, peeling and irritation. Do not combine Acnetoin gel with other medicated creams, peels or strong scrubs unless your doctor has planned a regimen for you. Use gentle, non‑comedogenic moisturizers and sunscreens, and avoid alcohol‑based toners or harsh cosmetics on the treated areas.
Improvement with Acnetoin gel is usually gradual. Some people may notice reduced oiliness and fewer new pimples after a few weeks, but full benefit can take several weeks or even a few months, depending on acne severity and skin type. Continue using it exactly as prescribed and do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if early results seem slow.
