How BROZEET LS SYRUP 100 ML Works

• Ambroxol changes the make-up of mucus in the airway so it becomes thinner and less sticky. It also increases the movement of the cilia, the fine hair-like structures lining the airway that sweep mucus upward.
• Guaifenesin increases the volume and reduces the stickiness of airway secretions, so loosened mucus moves more easily towards the throat where it can be coughed out.
• Levosalbutamol acts on beta-2 receptors in the muscle wrapped around the airways. Stimulating those receptors relaxes the muscle, the airway widens and air moves through more freely, which eases wheezing and gives the loosened mucus a clearer route out. Levosalbutamol relieves airway narrowing as it happens and is not a preventive treatment for asthma.

The effects patients notice soonest usually come from the levosalbutamol and appear shortly after a dose. A fine tremor in the hands, a fast or pounding heartbeat, restlessness and headache are the usual ones, and they tend to ease as the body adjusts. Muscle cramps or weakness during higher-dose treatment can point to a fall in blood potassium. Breathing that tightens rather than eases after a dose needs urgent medical attention, as does chest pain, fainting or a marked irregular heartbeat. Severe skin reactions have been reported with ambroxol.
