Clindamycin is available under various brand names. Consult your doctor or pharmacist to learn about specific options available in your region.
Clinmiskin Gel 20 GM is primarily for inflammatory acne. For blackheads and whiteheads, other treatments may be more effective.
Clinmiskin Gel is a topical anti-acne medication that contains clindamycin 1% w/w (an antibiotic) and niacinamide 4% w/w (vitamin B3). It is used for the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris, particularly inflammatory lesions such as papules and pustules on the face, chest, or back, as directed by a healthcare professional.
Clindamycin in Clinmiskin Gel inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and reduces the growth of acne-causing bacteria such as Cutibacterium acnes, thereby decreasing inflammation within the hair follicle. Niacinamide has anti-inflammatory and barrier-supporting properties, may help regulate sebum, and can improve redness and post-inflammatory marks. Together, they help reduce the number and severity of acne lesions.
Clinmiskin Gel is for external use only. Gently wash and pat dry the affected skin, then apply a thin film of the gel to the acne-affected areas as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, inside of the nose, and broken or irritated skin. Wash your hands before and after application. Do not use more frequently or in larger amounts than advised by your healthcare professional.
Some people may notice initial improvement in acne within a few weeks of regular use, but optimal results often require several weeks to a few months of continuous treatment. Acne therapy is usually gradual, and it is important to continue using Clinmiskin Gel as prescribed, unless you experience significant side effects or your doctor advises otherwise.
Common local side effects include mild burning, stinging, itching, redness, dryness, or peeling at the application site, especially during the early phase of treatment. These effects are often temporary. If irritation is severe, persistent, or associated with swelling, blistering, or intense discomfort, stop using the gel and consult your doctor.
Systemic absorption of topical clindamycin is generally low, but there is a potential risk of antibiotic-associated colitis, including Clostridioides difficile–associated diarrhea. If you develop persistent or severe diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or blood or mucus in stools while using Clinmiskin Gel, stop the medication and seek medical attention immediately. Serious allergic reactions are rare but possible; symptoms such as widespread rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing require urgent care.
Data on the use of topical clindamycin and niacinamide in pregnancy are limited, but systemic absorption from the skin is usually low. Clinmiskin Gel should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare professional who has assessed the potential benefits and risks. Do not start or continue this medication in pregnancy without medical advice.
Topical clindamycin results in low systemic exposure, and niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3; however, caution is still advised during breastfeeding. If Clinmiskin Gel is prescribed, avoid applying it on or near the breasts to prevent accidental ingestion by the infant. Use it only under medical supervision and inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding.
Clinmiskin Gel may be used alongside other acne treatments such as topical retinoids or benzoyl peroxide, but this should only be done under the guidance of a dermatologist or prescribing clinician. Combining multiple topical agents can increase dryness and irritation. Your doctor may adjust the timing or frequency of each product to minimize side effects and optimize efficacy.
Avoid applying Clinmiskin Gel to broken, sunburned, or eczematous skin, and keep it away from eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Limit excessive sun exposure and use a non-comedogenic sunscreen and moisturizer if needed. Do not use harsh cleansers, astringents, or abrasive scrubs on treated areas unless advised. Inform your doctor about any history of inflammatory bowel disease, antibiotic-associated colitis, or allergies to clindamycin, lincomycin, niacinamide, or formulation components.
Clinmiskin Gel is usually applied to localized acne-affected areas. Use on very large body areas or on severely damaged skin may increase systemic absorption of clindamycin and potentially raise the risk of systemic side effects, including antibiotic-associated colitis. Application over extensive areas should only be done if specifically recommended and monitored by a dermatologist.
If you forget to apply Clinmiskin Gel at your usual time, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled application. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed application, as this may increase irritation without improving acne control.
